Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Purpose of Position. 
The role of the Lean Engineer is to act as change agent to promote cost savings and cultural changes by playing a strong leadership in his/her assigned core team. In doing so, the Lean Engineer is expected to drive improvements and provide support to implement initiatives originated by the core team itself or by the PEx/Lean organization.

Major responsibilities and tasks of the position.

  • Create 3-5 years Lean road map and outline projects to support vision for assigned plant
  • Active participation either leading or monitoring project development his/her area of responsibility
  • Provides advise on Lean Six Sigma techniques implementation inside his/her area of responsibility
  • Provides timely feedback to his/her supervision on project status
  • Eliminate or mitigate 8 wastes and apply 5s+1 in operations floor
  • Stablish and implement 90% line balancing in operations

  • Putting comprehensive project plans together and monitors development.
  • Promote Lean  transformation by selecting  Lean tools to assure his/her assigned Business Unit achieves Business Plan for current year


Minimum Knowledge and Skill Requirements.

A. Education.

  • Engineering BS Degree     

B. Work Experience.

  • 2 years as Lean Engineer Jr.

C. Additional Skills.

  • Fluent English
  • Self-motivated individual with a history of delivering positive results through continuous improvement
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work in team environment
  • Strong "Change Agent" with demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Strong Process focus with attention-to-detail abilities, problem solving skills.
  • Strong knowledge of  manufacturing methods, systems, and production processes. 
  • Strong knowledge on Lean Six Sigma Methodology and line balancing
  • Strong ability to translate  data coming from several sources  into informative charts
  • Able to lead meetings and present information with technical detail in foreign language
