Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Purpose of Position

The Product Specialist position supports the NAFTA, CALA, and AUS Fiber Optic Hardware Product Line Manager and team.  This position is responsible for providing, collecting, analyzing, and reporting of product related data to support the team’s strategic and tactical priorities.  This includes, but is not limited to, SAP, Business Warehouse, Vendavo, PIMS, Forecast, Saleforce.com, and Windchill.  The PLA will help develop standardized tools, methodologies and business processes aimed at improving operational efficiency.

 

Major Roles and Responsibilities

Reporting/Analysis

  • Compile and analyze reports from SAP/Business Warehouse to include financial and volume trends
  • Analyze and consolidate forecast data for monthly Logility/SnOP forecast process
  • Collect and distribute standardized reports and key product line metrics. 

 

  • Proactively monitor and manage customer fulfillment performance: undated orders, non-standard order multiples, sample and demo requests, part number assignment and price loading, backlog, inventory, quality, and other metrics.

 

  • Help establish process for reporting forecast/pipeline changes and opportunity analysis trends

 

Product Line Support

  • Works closely with Product Line Manager to fulfill Product Line, Technology, and Operations priorities
  • Engagement with Technology, Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality and Planning for driving tactical and strategic goals
  • Support Data Management Organization (DMO) regarding ordering processes and part number management.
  • Support key product line strategic and tactical initiatives as established in the One Year and Five Year Plans
  • Conduct periodic review and initiates updated product collateral, including literature, specification sheets, videos, and standard procedures
  • Conducts Product Training as required
  • Provide day-to-day support as necessary

Experiences/Education

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
  • Worked extensively with Excel and other data analysis tool packs
  • Experience directly or indirectly with fulfilling customer requirements
  • Experience working cross functionally to achieve goals and project completion
  • Experience leading or being part of project teams

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business
  • Previous work experience in PLM or equivalent demonstrated experience
  • Previous work experience in a B2B environment
  • Previous work experience in a customer facing role
