Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
We are looking for a highly skilled Field Engineer (FE) to join our team in (Riyadh, KSA). The FE will be responsible for representing Corning as a Data Center product and solution expert across the EMEA region, working closely with both internal and external customers. This role combines a blend of internal and external responsibilities, requiring a dynamic candidate with a robust background in network architecture, time management, and excellent communication abilities. The FE will develop a deep knowledge of Corning Optical Communications’ portfolio to deliver a quick and reliable support to our customers. The FE must understand the customer needs and promote the value of Corning solutions that meet those needs to maximize profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with sales teams and external partners and customers to gather requirements and propose tailored solutions in alignment with Corning's product portfolio.
- Prepare comprehensive solution documentations for ICT systems in Data Center/LAN including Network Design Architecture, Bills of Materials (BOMs), Statements of Compliance, and rack elevation schematics.
- Respond to RFP/RFQ and advise customers (internal or external) about products and their use in various Field.
- Provide technical support and deliver training sessions, workshops, and presentations on Corning products directly to end customers, installers, and distribution partners.
- Provide pre-sales and after sales customer support including product recommendation, system design, system installation training, testing, and troubleshooting at customer site.
- Create datasheets, technical papers, and customer responses as needed.
- Provide feedback to development/PLM (product line management) regarding new product evaluation, product improvements and compliance to regional standards and norms.
- Manage equipment inventory such as fiber optic splicing machines, network testing equipment and other devices to ensure availability for projects and support activities in EMEA.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new IT tools or solutions aimed at automating work processes and enhancing team efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education: University Engineering Degree.
- Years and Area of Experience: Preferred Telecom, Data Center or ICT design and engineering: 2-5 years.
Required Skills (These are skills that candidates MUST possess)
- Communication skills are of utmost importance to ensure customer priorities are resolved quickly and correctly.
- Independence and demonstrated ability as self-driven and self-managed employee who fulfills assigned tasks quickly and accurately.
- Experience in designing Structured cabling network solutions and architectures for the Data Center, OSP or LAN spaces.
- Experience in reviewing and generating technical documentation including but not limited to, Bill of Materials (BOM), product datasheets, Statement of Compliance, and RFP/RFQ.
- An agile individual who can juggle several tasks simultaneously and able to work with deadlines.
- Demonstrated technical support experience (customer oriented, field solutions, timely responses).
- Capable of conveying complex technical concepts to both technical experts and those with limited technical knowledge.
- Comfortable working in cross-functional team environments and a willingness to collaborate and learn from others.
- Strong computer skills (MS Windows based: Office365, Power point, Word, Excel, Visio).
- Strong English writing and speaking skills. Additional languages such as Arabic are considered a plus.
Desired Skills (These are skills that would be nice for candidates to possess)
- Good hands-on skills: basic mechanical /troubleshooting/repair skills.
- Pre-sales experience in active and passive telecommunication networks and ICT backbones.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Java, Visual Basic, or others.
- Knowledge of or familiarity with international standards such as CENELEC, ISO/IEC, TIA/EIA, IEEE, etc.
- Preferably a professional relevant certification such as RCDD, DCDC, CNIDP, CDCDP or similar.
- Familiarity or experience with DC active equipment (switches, servers, storage, etc.).
- Project Management skills or certifications such PMP, ACP, PRINCE2 or similar.
Travel Requirements: up to 25% of the working time as required.
Primarily in country. However, candidate must be prepared to travel anywhere within EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) region. Flexibility to travel on short notice requiring overnight stay. Must have proper visas /documentation to allow unrestricted travel in region. Candidate must possess current and valid local driving license and clean driving record to allow renting vehicles as required.
Hours of work/work schedule/flextime:
Minimum 40-hour week plus travel time as required. Some weekend work or travel required. (e.g travel to Israel and points about Communication/independence.)
