For our departments at Corning Switzerland we are looking for a 

 

Director Supply Management Sustainability (m/f/d)

 

Scope of Position:

  • Develop and deliver a supply management sustainability strategy in support of Corning’s overall sustainability strategy, including social responsibility and environmental.
  • Direct and oversee activities related to supply management sustainability, including development, implementation, and ongoing administration of social and environmental programs.
  • Develop and implement sustainability Policies and procedures. Monitor consistently to regulations for changes and updates. Provide change management oversight for adoption.
  • Motivate and energize supply management employees about the sustainability goals and commitments.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments including Operations, Environmental, Legal, and Human Resources to formalize and maintain a highly effective, meaningful sustainability program.
  • Engage external advocacy groups to advance external perception of Corning sustainability performance.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the global leaders within Corning and the respective functional and business unit leadership teams to define, develop, and execute the supply management sustainability strategy.
  • Establish and monitor program goals, success metrics and implementation roadmaps to advance the sustainability strategy.
  • Implement and monitor recognized standards and KPIs, using the information to continually identify areas of improvement
  • Monitor and analyze external trends, including emerging legislation and advocacy trends, and competitor landscape for insights to inform ongoing strategy development and to maintain rank as best in class.
  • Oversee supplier compliance with social and environmental requirements
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding Corning sustainability performance
  • Monitor program schedules, costs, and deliverables.
  • Identify and work proactively to resolve any risks or failure to make progress toward achieving goals.

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Domestic and International travel as required.

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • 40+ Hours per week.

 

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree, MBA or advanced degree in related field preferred.

 

Required Years and Area of Experience:

  • 15+ years, including 5+ years in Sustainability.

 

Required Skills:

  • 15+ years strong business experience, including sustainability leadership, program management, and supply chain.
  • Deep knowledge of sustainability and solid understanding of government advocacy and key market trend.
  • Strategic thinker and thought leader with a mindset of innovation and intellectual curiosity, skilled at eliciting various perspectives, synthesizing ideas and actioning solutions in creative ways.
  • Strong work ethic and results-oriented contributor with demonstrated experience managing complex programs.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to drive effective results working with senior leadership and stakeholders, trusted to manage highly confidential information.
  • Ability to collaboratively reach out across organizational boundaries, navigating matrixed structures to mobilize resources and subject matter experts across multiple teams and groups to achieve objectives.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with experience developing clear, succinct, and compelling content for executive-level presentations and communications.
  • Capacity to serve as a thought partner, planning partner and execution partner, comfortable assessing and, as appropriate, challenging input.

 

Desired Skills:

  • Able to work in ambiguous operating environments.
  • Understands and can calculate basic financial computations (Rate of Return, Payback, Return on Investment and Return on Asset to name a few).
  • Change Management training / experience.
