Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.



  • Maximise sales and margin for all assigned Corning Optical Communications’ products to the In-Building Networks & Datacentre market in allocated regions / to allocated customers. A particular focus on understanding and growing Datacentre business is key.
  • Identify new customers and new opportunities, position and specify our solutions
  • Develop and maintain relationships with blue chip end users and develop long term account strategies.
  • Implement program strategies for key customers ensuring these include the effective implementation of the NPI (Network of Preferred Installers) and LinkUp (Consultant) programs for assigned areas
  • Establish and maintain sufficient product knowledge of our products and their applications to recognize opportunities and communicate internally to achieve maximum advantage
  • Direct the activities of internal groups & functions (Customer Service, Engineering Service, Corporate Communications, Legal and Financial Services) in meeting all customer needs
  • Participate in nominated regional trade shows and conventions in the territory to promote our products and support targeted distributors’ sales effort
  • As a representative of Corning Optical Communications convey the highest level of professionalism in behaviour and appearance, uphold Corning values and help fulfill all customer expectations of Corning as a world class supplie



  • BS/BA or equivalent degree or experience
  • Several years of sales experience in the data communications / telecommunication industry in the UK. Proven track record in sales / business development.
  • Strong technical / product / industry knowledge, particularly in the Datacentre arena
  • Proven interpersonal skills, excellent communicator and presenter
  • A ‘self-starter’ possessing strong initiative, resilience, organization and time management skills able to work independently
  • Experience in using a CRM system would be beneficial
