Role Purpose

Reporting directly to the Quality Site Lead, this position focuses on product quality, improving processes and cost reduction.  This position also supports the introduction of new products and process changes to meet plant goals. This position works closely with other functions within the organization (Engineering, Operations, Development and Procurement) and is responsible for the processes for all product lines including NCMR, validations, quality plans, MSA, Sterilization program, etc.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Knowledge and application of the ISO 13485 Quality Management System standard.
  • Ensures adequacy of product Quality and compliance to requirements.  Reviews test data to ensure results meet all specifications and input data (as applicable)
  • Drives continuous improvement in Quality, manufacturing and cost reduction for the site.
  • Optimize sampling plans and sampling methods for QC and manufacturing.
  • Collaborates with plant and division innovation teams to evaluate new product needs and translate them to meaningful plant specifications.
  • Performs validations, test protocols, equipment qualifications or special assignments under general supervision.
  • Manages site sterilization program, ensuring compliance to protocols.
  • Authors and/or performs reviews of various technical documentation, SOPs, and specifications.
  • Develops and maintains a high level of product, analytical, and process knowledge.
  • Performs internal and external auditing.
  • Provides training to employees, as needed (new procedures, technical training, etc.).
  • Ensures changes to process meet product quality, compliance, cost, and productivity targets.
  • Performs root cause investigations of customer complaints and internal product defects.  Implements corrective and preventative actions to address non-conforming product.

Required Education and Experience

  • Minimum BS degree required - Technical field (Engineering or Technical degree) preferred
  • Minimum one year of quality experience in related industry/field (preferably manufacturing of medical devices) required
  • Experience with quality and statistic tools such as sampling plans, AQL, 5WHY, DMAIC fishbone, gauge R&R, MS, etc. 
  • Knowledge/experience in a regulated industry (cGMP, GLP, ISO, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio).
  • Demonstrated use of root cause and problem solving skills to resolve technical issues.
  • Project management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Methodical, data-based decision-making skills with the ability to use this data in actively finding solutions.
  • Self-starter; ability to drive projects to closure.

Desired Experience

  • Experience with ISO 13485 standard, requirements and certification or equivalent. 
  • Six SIGMA related certifications
  • CQE Certification
  • APICS Certification

The range for this position is $66,478.00 - $91,407.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
