Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

This position is responsible for coordinating and aligning cross-functional efforts to deliver and manage products for Corning’s high growth CPO business with a focus on the Broadcom ecosystem.  This role will be critical in the work to establish in-region capability through collaboration with Corning’s APAC locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads cross-functional efforts to align Technology, Manufacturing, Product Line Management, Marketing, Sales, and the Customer
  • Supports development of product strategies that reflect Corning’s CPO business strategy
  • Helps establish APAC capability to deliver CPO solutions
  • Collaborates and coordinates with Technology and Manufacturing to deliver new products faster than competitors
  • May serve as commercial or project lead for key initiatives
  • Develops internal business cases to support investment timing, cross-product alignment, or solution-level customization
  • Interacts directly with key customers as needed for critical opportunities and projects

 

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred engineering or business)
  • Understands financial & operational levers of the product line, and considers them when making product-related decisions
  • Minimum of 4 years work experience preferably in product line management, engineering, manufacturing, or supply chain
  • Understands product’s position in the market(s) and uses this understanding to set the product line strategy
  • Comfortable with frequent customer engagements at a technical level
  • Ability to collaborate across functional boundaries to solve problems and develop solutions
  • Ability to mobilize and influence people within and outside the organization to meet objectives
  • Proven ability to self-manage and prioritize multiple tasks in an efficient, focused manner
  • Fluency in English with excellent verbal/written communications skills, and clarity in presentations

Experiences/Education - Desired

    • Master’s degree in engineering or business administration
    • Product management experience in a highly technical field
    • Thorough knowledge and experience regarding manufacturing, SAP, Customer Care, Finance, and PLM systems
    • Understanding of optics, glass as a material, and optical fiber properties
    • Financial analysis and accounting experience
    • International perspective and business work experience
    • Participation in, or leadership of, multicultural and/or multi-geographic project
