Purpose of the Position:                         

Primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the General Manager and the Commercial and Business management team.  This support includes screen phones for GM, taking messages, making travel arrangements, setting up meetings (both internal and external), coordinating schedules and calendars, maintaining files, helping with documents and presentations, etc.  Routine contact and access will include external Corning locations across BU and Greater Corning China as well as customers located in China.  The responsibilities will include specific project support to planning/customer service and marketing, as required by business needs.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Assist and provide all administrative services for the General Manager, Business Manager team and Commercial staff team members which include travel arrangements, maintaining accurate and easily accessible files, handling expense reports, scheduling meetings, calendar control, answering and referring telephone calls, typing memos and other correspondence, handling mail and helping to prepare presentations (graphs, verbiage, etc.), etc.
  • Assist in Customer visits.  Inform and coordinate with the plant staff as required.  Insure all communications and requirements are satisfied per documented procedures 
  • Support commercial visits to China by BU managers located outside China, including hotel and ground transportation arrangements as well as assisting in acquiring entry Visas
  • Translation of news release, technical papers
  • Prepare meeting logistics for the General Manager such as agenda and meeting facilities
  • Arrange logistics for team members' travel
  • Arrange logistics for customers visit
  • Maintain and update customer data base
  • Assist in organizing commercial activities and events
  • Other assistance to team members per request and approved by GM

 

Project involved with:

  • Undertakes special projects as directed by the General or Business Manager or staff (i.e. presentations, customer visits, internal commercial meetings/arrangements – like Global or Asian Summits - open house, holiday events, operations reviews, etc.)
  • Maintain key customer presentation materials
  • Be able to assist in teleconference and net meetings as requested.
  • Be able to assist in market intelligence gathering and planning/customer service tasks

 

Responsibilities:

  • University degree or equivalent.
  • 3 years relative experience working in a foreign venture (or joint venture).
  • Excellent English language skill
