SCPCS Assistant Plant Controller

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Plant Controller with all plant finance and accounting activities
• Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
• Prepare and analyze journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports
• Monitor and analyze manufacturing costs, labor, overhead, and material usage
• Perform variance analysis related to production, spending, labor efficiency, and inventory
• Assist with the development of annual budgets, forecasts, and strategic financial plans
• Maintain and improve standard costing processes and cost accuracy
• Partner with operations teams to review plant performance and identify cost-saving opportunities
• Support physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and inventory valuation processes
• Help ensure compliance with internal controls, corporate policies, and financial procedures
• Assist with audit requests and documentation for internal and external auditors
• Develop and track key performance indicators for plant financial and operational performance
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen reporting, controls, and plant profitability
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making by plant leadership

Experiences/Education - Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• 3–7 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a manufacturing or plant environment
• Experience with cost accounting, inventory accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis
• Prior experience supporting month-end close and financial reporting processes
• Experience working with ERP systems in a manufacturing setting preferred
• Exposure to internal controls, audits, and variance analysis strongly preferred

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in cost accounting, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory reconciliation
• Experience with financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and forecasting
• Familiarity with financial reporting tools and plant performance metrics
• Ability to analyze large data sets and translate findings into actionable recommendations
• Understanding of internal controls and compliance requirements
