Key Responsibilities:

As Business Capital GSM Lead for the Auto MAP:

• Leads the development, communication, and execution of GSM Strategic Sourcing strategies and plans to procure capital products or services in alignment with business objectives and strategies globally. Capital projects include new facility construction, facility expansions, remodeling and repair of existing structures, and off the shelf and custom plant process equipment.

• Develop and deploy global, comprehensive, strategy for Auto MAP capital sourcing in alignment with Capricorn best practices. Strategy will support commercial, manufacturing, and supply chain objectives and will optimize for cost and quality, minimize inventory and purchase requirements, and reduce cycle time. Strategy will include comprehensive internal requirements, consolidated spend analysis, market dynamics and intelligence, vendor assessments, and recommended projects / cost reduction portfolio for turning strategy in to impact.

• Assists with development of capital category management plans and objectives (short & long term) based on forecasts of future demand and taking into account economic and currency trends and conditions that affect GSM, the Auto MAP, and capital goods and services. Ensures project-specific activities are executed in alignment with global capital category plans.

• Works with the Auto MAP divisions, GSSM, and Buyers on assigned capital projects to prepare capital project - specific effective procurement plans and strategies and solicit competitive bids, quotations, and proposals with pertinent specifications, terms and conditions.

• Develops and reviews specifications, statements of work, performance terms and accept/reject criteria. Acts as a trusted partner to Auto MAP project teams to provide input, make recommendations, and support decision making processes.

• In partnership with category managers, manage global supply base for Auto MAP, including but not limited to contract negotiations and management, supplier relationship management, supplier performance management, supply base rationalization, and supplier qualification.

• Leverages appropriate SMSC services across the organization to efficiently and effectively create impact from the Contracting Center of Excellence, Negotiations Center of Excellence, and Value Optimization team.

 

As Asia-regional Capital GSM Lead:

• Partners with other Business Capital GSM Leads to staff and execute their Asia-region capital projects. Provides in-region management oversight and support to those capital projects as needed.

• Embedded coach to Asia-region capital sourcing team in Capricorn Sourcing and Category Management best practices, and in execution of sourcing deliverables as part of the Capital Stage Gate process. Participates in and adds GSM input to non-sourcing Capricorn processes such as business case validation, minimum viable solution workshops, and Last Planner project scheduling. Scouts for next generation tools, processes, and approaches to world-class capital sourcing.

• Identifies opportunities for and drives increased rigor and data analytics in to our project sourcing activities. Manages with facts and data.

• Develops and cultivates effective relationships with existing and new suppliers and with business team partners, project managers, and leadership.

• Provides guidance to direct reports and allocates resources to projects. Assesses and develops talent.

• Develop, maintain and execute Shared Objectives and Service Level Agreements.

• Champions and advocates for the Global Buying Policy. Ensures compliance.

 

Experiences/Education: Required

• Bachelors Degree in engineering or other technical field • Minimum of 10 years operations, planning, engineering, category management, project management, or procurement. • Capital projects execution or sourcing experience

• Able to work independently and in a matrix environment or on a cross functional team.

• Demonstrated negotiations, interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills with all levels of the organization, cross- culturally. Able to build rapport and establish business relationships.

• Team leadership and facilitation skills. Able and willing to serve as a project team leader and/or participant.

• Capable of influencing and leading suppliers and internal customers to desired results where selection of suppliers is limited or otherwise constrained.
