Scope of Position:
Focus is to participate in development and implementation of thin-film coating technologies. Specifically, these responsibilities include:
• Participate in the development and implementation of manufacturing processes involving vacuum deposition technologies, including PVD, CVD, PECVD, and spray coating.
• Participate in process development and experimentation for new production lines to establish fundamental process understanding.
• Improve coating processes for both existing and new products, focusing on yield enhancement, cycle time reduction, and capacity and throughput optimization.
• Perform root cause analysis of product failures and implement corrective actions. Provide coating expertise to support new business opportunities.
• Define and analyze equipment performance, capability, and requirements; support Stage 2–3 development/testing and Stage 4–5 technology migration.
• Collaborate with R&D teams on new processes and product development and introduction (NPI).
• Transfer technology to divisions and manufacturing plants, ensuring full implementation of training and documentation systems, including SOPs, process set-points, FMEA, MSDS, RoHS, and training materials.
• Assess risks associated with chemical applications in engineering and manufacturing processes and recommend suitable alternatives.
• Conduct process engineering studies and implement final product inspection, data collection, and quality control systems to meet customer specifications.
• Provide technical expertise in process control and share lessons learned from project experience. Facilitate knowledge sharing across divisions and manufacturing sites.
• Communicate effectively within cross-functional teams; consolidate input from team members, customers, and vendors, and lead execution of project plans, tasks, and schedules.
• Travel periodically to Corning Incorporated and supplier locations in Asia and the USA to support process development, new operations, and process improvement initiatives.
EDUCATION:
• Desired Degree: Bachelor or Master
• Major: Optical physics, Material Engineering, Polymeric Science or Chemistry/Chemical Engineering
EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in field work to deliver thin-film coating related processes to manufacturing plants and demonstrated success in throughput improvement, problem shooting, surface analysis, materials characterization, new technology development or cost reduction in development & manufacturing processes.

• Technical expertise in thin-film coating and optical technologies.
• Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships.

• Results-oriented mindset, with a strong focus on achieving measurable outcomes and continuous improvement.
• Adaptable and flexible, open to new ideas and responsive to change in dynamic engineering environments.
• Able to communicate in English, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
• Able to apply AI tools to improve work efficiency.
Desired Skills:
• Technical expertise in glass surface properties and surface characterization.
• Proficient in data analysis and programming tools, including JMP, Minitab, Power BI, Python, and MATLAB.
• Project management and engineering capabilities, with experience in structured methodologies such as PMP, Six Sigma, and DMAIC.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes of process issues and implement optimal, data-driven solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to leverage technology and market insights to drive business and engineering outcomes.
Unique / Special Requirements:
• Travel required during process development, installation, debug, and start-up as well as for routine interaction with internal customers and supplier. Estimated~ 70%.
