Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Use of optical, digital electronic and electrical instruments for measurement of the product and process parameters.
  • Use of control system fundamental via industrial controllers for achieving the desired target of the product/process parameters/attributes.
  • Design control system hardware and software for manufacturing process. Develop or modify control systems including data acquisition, data display, control charts and control algorithms.
  • Equipment checkout, move-in, installation, debug, commissioning and integration of control systems into to manufacturing facilities.
  • Work with process engineers to conduct process improvement experiments and manufacturing studies. Statistics analysis of manufacturing and experimental data to find process upset root causes and appropriate solution. It involves the application of fundamental knowledge and methods for understanding physical phenomena to achieve specified characteristics and criteria for products and processes.
  • Work on teams with production and engineering to improve yield, throughput, cycle time and process uptime.
  • Participate in all stages of manufacturing processes that involve forming, firing and annealing on glass and ceramics, ware handling and finishing which includes cutting, grinding, polishing, washing, assembly and packaging of final products.
  • Transfer of technology to manufacturing operation with full implementation of training and documentation systems (SOP, SOS and Training).
  • Work with development team for new processes and product introductions.


Project Involved With:

  • Development & Engineering for capacity expansion, implementation of robust, cost effective automation and process control systems in all Corning’s manufacturing plants in Asia and require collaboration with Equipment, process engineering, manufacturing and other related organizations.
  • Fundamental understanding and application of classical and advance feedback control algorithms to manufacturing process.
  • Project management on control system and process equipment installation.
  • Control system hardware, software and architecture design, implementation and commissioning.
  • Control system programming and debug.


Education & Experiences:

  • MS Degree above+ in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering & Automation, Electronic Engineering, Industrial Automation, Control Theory & Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical & Electricity Engineering, Power System & Automation, Measurement & Instrument or Computer Engineering.
  • Chemical Engineering, Material Engineering and Thermal Engineering with Control fundamental background.
  • Top Universities in US, NA, Europe and Asia are preferred.


Required Skills:

  • Familiar with control systems hardware, software, and system integration design.
  • Understanding of Electrical standard, safety and code compliance.
  • Fundamental understanding of classical control - Linear feedback control PID, cascade control, Logic & sequence control, Single input single output (SISO) etc.
  • PLC programming skills and experience in process & automation control. (Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Siemens etc.)
  • SCADA systems design and development for manufacturing operation and process control. (GE iFix, FactoryTalk View, WinCC, LabView etc.)
  • Familiar with industrial communication protocol. (RS232/RS48, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Profibus, CAN, Modbus, CC-Link, EtherNet/IP, Profinet, TCP/IP etc.)
  • Coordinated multi-axis and synchronized motion control design and implementation.
