Optimizes the customer experience by ensuring timely and high quality execution of customer orders and responses to customer issues and requests

  • Accurately executes order specifications in Corning’s order system; ensures proper pricing, payment, quotes and shipping / transportation terms; and ensures orders are in accordance with Corning’s standard terms and conditions
  • Coordinates order shipping and transportation and keeps customers informed of any delays or issues, as needed
  • Follows up with customers on accounts receivable in a timely manner and works closely with Shared Services to generate monthly credit limit reports
  • Ensures that customer requests meet Corning’s manufacturing requirements while still fulfilling customer needs (e.g., product quantity, delivery dates)
  • Manages single purchase orders with multiple release dates (i.e., blanket orders) and provides Customer Service management with volume orders to serve as input to short-term forecasting efforts
  • Fields and resolves (if possible) customer complaints by working with Accounting, Quality, Manufacturing, and other Commercial roles as needed
  • Communicates regularly with Account Managers to share customer-related information and issues
  • May be responsible for responding to inquiries for quotations for small, non-repeat business
  • May visit the customer site to build relationships and gain an understanding of their internal processes

  • Work experience in a customer-facing role
  • Associate’s Degree or secondary education equivalent
  • Fluency in the English language
  • Language skills in customers’ primary geographic location(s)

  • Work experience with business management software / systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, SAP)
  • Work experience with similar products or in the division’s industry
  • Work experience in a logistics/planning role
  • Experience working internationally or with different cultures
  • Work experience in a role requiring extensive use of Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Experience working in a customer service center
