Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Key Responsibilities

  • Initiate and provide plant automation strategy and roadmap
  • Design, develop and deliver automation solution/ fixtures and new technologies to meet different project requirement
  • Lead and/or direct technician resources in the improvement of equipment and process
  • Achieve low-cost manufacturing, superior quality/service and improved capability/capacity
  • Manage equipment and maintenance technician to perform TS, TPM to ensure the reliability of the equipment, keep technicians’ high motivation and efficiency
  • Coordinate multiple project leaders to deliver on key plant objectives.
  • Work with engineering and production team to identify the opportunities for further improvement. Lead the improvement project.
  • Manage and communicate status of key engineering initiatives that drive manufacturing performance
  • Develop equipment/tooling maintenance program and reporting system. Make recommendations for equipment and tooling improvement. Provide training to maintenance team
  • Use industrial engineering tools and methodologies to analyze manufacturing data and identify issues / opportunities for improvement
  • Apply tools such as Minitab and other analytical approaches to support problem solving
  • Drive lean improvement projects across the factory
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives with a strong focus on efficiency and operational excellence
  • Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to coordinate and drive improvement actions
  • Support the factory in strengthening process and equipment collaboration through structured analysis and project execution

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor and /or above
  • Major in optical science or mechanical engineering
  • At least 5 years experiences in fiber engineering or other related manufacturing engineering area
  • Demonstrated track record of engineering / technical accomplishment such as delivery of sustainable incremental improvement, step change in capability / performance, etc
  • Demonstrated delivery of results through project or organizational leadership
  • Demonstrated track record (Performance Results and People Development)

Required Skills

Required by Legal or EHS:

  • Well understand and master the major environmental and safety factors involved in the department
  • Know EHS relevant law and regulations
  • Obey all company EHS rules (Include: Policy, Procedure, SOP and other requirements).

 

 

Competencies (knowledge, skills, and behaviors)

  • Solid connectivity process and engineering knowledge including automation, process, material, control, mechanical and other related knowledge.
  • Technical people management skill
  • Project management skill
  • Familiar with quality, EH&S management system such as ISO9000, ISO14001,
  • Familiar with process/quality/cost control and improvement tools such as SPC, DOE, FMEA, IE, seven quality tools
  • Strong data analysis capability, with hands-on experience using tools such as Minitab
  • Cross-functional collaboration
  • Good communication and coordination skills are essential, as this role requires extensive cross-functional collaboration
  • Knowledge of manufacturing accounting and control
  • Good people skill with communication and coach
  • Good written and oral English communication
  • Good PC skills such as Microsoft office and outlook

Desired Skills

  • Have some knowledge with production and maintenance management and related tools such as 5S, TQM, mini-company and others
  • Knowledge of manufacturing excellence tools (AME, KT, Lean)
  • Experience across multiple organizations/plants
  • Have some knowledge with facility
  • Have some knowledge of fiber application and technical support for outside customer
