Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, analyze and optimize production layout and material flow to maximize space utilization, output and work efficiency.
• Conduct time & motion studies and line balancing to establish standard work, cycle times and labor standards.
• Drive capacity improvement through bottleneck analysis, capacity modeling, and machine/labor utilization studies (e.g., OEE, DT, yield).
• Lead and facilitate Kaizen events and continuous improvement activities to eliminate waste and improve productivity.
• Support Lean deployment using tools such as VSM, 5S, SMED, standard work, pull/flow and visual management.
• Promote digitalization of shop-floor processes – data collection, dashboards, digital work instructions, and IE data systems – to improve visibility and decision-making.
• Support cost reduction and productivity improvement projects; quantify savings and track benefit realization.
• Support new product introduction and new line/equipment installation with process design, cycle time estimates and staffing plans.
• Establish and maintain process documentation, SOPs, routings and labor/BOM data.
• Provide performance analysis and routine reports to support management decision-making.

Education & Experience
• B.S. or above degree; Industrial Engineering or related major (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Systems Engineering) is preferred.
• 2+ years of industrial/manufacturing engineering experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred (entry level considered with strong IE fundamentals).
• Lean manufacturing / Kaizen experience is preferred
Competencies (Knowledge, skills and behaviors)
• Solid knowledge of IE fundamentals: layout design, line balancing, time & motion study, work measurement, standard work and capacity planning.
• Proficient in Lean and Six Sigma tools: DMAIC, VSM, SMED, 5S, SPC, statistic tools and QC Story.
• Familiar with manufacturing operations and cross-function processes.
• Problem analysis and solving skills; logical thinking and data oriented.
• Good organizational and coordination skills; able to plan annual activities and manage multiple projects.
• MS – Office, good at Excel; able to utilize digitalization/AI tools; simulation or CAD/layout tools a plus.
• DMAIC GB is required, BB is a plus.
• Good English comprehension in listening, speaking, writing and reading.
• Aptitude for success in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment.
• Ability to engage employees to involve within improvement activities.
