Purpose of the Position:
• This role will lead the strategic procurement activities for some of Industrial Minerals and Packaging categories:
o Identify, lead, communicate, and implement cost reduction initiatives across multiple stakeholder businesses and operating units;
o Develop Strategic Sourcing plans, aligned to stakeholder objectives, fulfilling current and future demand forecasts with consideration to geopolitical, economic and market trends & conditions impacting raw materials supply chain;
o Collaborate with Business Supply Managers and Global Strategic Sourcing Managers on key initiatives;
o Challenge specifications, materials and processes
o Engage with well-established raw materials production/distribution networks, leverage to ensure supply assurance;
o Lead the preparation and delivery of negotiation strategies, to yield best-in-class value.
o Develop and communicate relevant supply intelligence for the various industrial minerals sub-categories. (i.e.: market intelligence, should-cost modelling, leading-cost sourcing options, consortiums, etc.)
o Lead sourcing and supplier management activities for key packaging materials and related supply arrangements in Asia
o Partner with businesses, plants, quality, and logistics to support packaging continuity, specification alignment, and implementation of change
o Identify and implement value creation opportunities in packaging through cost improvement, resilience, standardization, and supplier development
• The role will work closely with a wide internal customer base as well as other Functional Corporate functions to identify business and functional customers’ priorities and closely align with business/functional strategies. In many cases these activities will be performed as part of a cross-functional team but the incumbent will lead the process and be responsible for implementing solutions.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
• Identify and get aligned with business stakeholders to guarantee agreement on terms and process by reflecting the expectation of businesses Identify business needs and
• Develop, maintain and execute Shared Objectives and Service Level Agreements
• Develop cost saving initiatives and projects based on deep analytic skill and procurement expertise
• Responsible for negotiation for best possible cost service guarantee and develop “win-win” strategy that achieve sustainable relationship with suppliers by inventing negotiation strategies and tactics
• Research and anticipate shifts in the negotiating power of suppliers based on in-depth understanding of culture and procurement expertise
• Manage key supplier performance where necessary to ensure uninterrupted supply
• Optimize sourcing procedures to attain maximum efficiency
• Develop and cultivate effective relationships with suppliers
• Implement supplier agreements/contracts when beneficial by working with cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers to reach agreement on contract terms and conditions
• Support packaging-related supplier negotiations, commercial decisions, and implementation with internal stakeholders
• Drive packaging supply continuity by identifying risks, coordinating mitigation actions, and following up with suppliers and plants
• Coordinate packaging-related specification, qualification, or change activities with the relevant cross-functional teams
• Provide visibility on supplier performance, service risks, and improvement opportunities for packaging
Education & Experience
• Master degree
• Major in engineering, materials engineer preferred
