Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Key Responsibilities

•    Own the daily technical performance and availability of production and laboratory test stations, respond to equipment alarms and abnormal results, and restore operation through structured troubleshooting and verified corrective actions.
•    Install, integrate, debug, qualify, and release optical, dimensional, visual, polarization, connector-end-face, alignment, and reliability-test equipment, including fixtures, interfaces, channel mapping, data acquisition, and test software.
•    Develop and maintain test methods, equipment specifications, acceptance criteria, standard operating procedures, work instructions, preventive-maintenance plans, calibration requirements, golden-sample controls, and troubleshooting guides.
•    Execute equipment qualification and measurement-system activities, site or supplier acceptance, MSA, Gauge R&R, bias, stability, linearity, station-to-station correlation, and method correlation, as applicable.
•    Analyze test data and/or equipment logs to monitor yield, false-failure risk, drift, repeatability, reproducibility, cycle time, station capacity, and measurement uncertainty; implement improvements based on evidence.
•    Support production ramp, engineering builds, reliability testing, and change implementation by ensuring test coverage, fixture readiness, recipe control, traceability, and operator/technician training.
•    Lead containment and root-cause investigation for test-equipment failures, measurement discrepancies, correlation gaps, and suspect results; partner with Quality members, Process Engineer, Product Engineer, IT/Automation, Maintenance, and suppliers.
•    Manage equipment configuration and lifecycle controls, including software/recipe revision, access control, backup and recovery, spare parts, obsolescence, service contracts, calibration status, and change control.
•    Coordinate equipment vendors and internal engineering resources for specification review, FAT/SAT, installation, qualification, repair, correlation, and technical training.
•    Ensure compliance with EHS, laser safety, electrical safety, ESD, cleanroom, chemical-handling, data-integrity, and document-control requirements relevant to the assigned equipment and laboratory areas.

Education & Experience

•    Bachelor's degree or above in optical engineering, photonics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, automation, measurement and control, physics, or a related technical discipline.
•    Here is a plus: experience with CPO, optical engines, fiber arrays / FAU, PM and single-mode fiber, MPO/MTP or other multi-fiber connectors, silicon photonics, or optical interconnect manufacturing.
•    Knowledge of reliability-testing workflows and environmental-test support, including pre- and post-stress measurement, sample tracking, station correlation, and failure-analysis handoff.
•    Experience with dimensional metrology, digital microscopy, interferometry, machine vision, CMM, laser confocal measurement, surface-profile analysis, or precision-motion systems.
•    Hands-on experience supporting test or metrology equipment in a manufacturing, reliability, photonics-packaging, semiconductor, precision-assembly, or comparable high-technology environment.
•    Working knowledge of fiber-optic measurements such as insertion loss, return loss / back reflection, optical power, wavelength response, connector end-face inspection, and basic polarization measurements.
•    Ability to integrate instruments, fixtures, optical paths, electrical interfaces, software, and data flow into a stable production or laboratory test station.
•    Practical experience with equipment installation, qualification, calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, MSA / Gauge R&R, correlation, and controlled release to production or lab users.
•    Ability to read equipment manuals, engineering drawings, schematics, test specifications, and data trends; able to convert technical requirements into executable test methods and acceptance criteria.

Required Skills. Competencies, or Certification

Required by Legal or EHS:
•    Know quality relevant law and regulations
•    Experience working in cleanroom, ESD-controlled, laser-controlled, or chemical-use environments and following applicable PPE and safety requirements.

Desired competencies
-    Has strong customer orientation and risk awareness.
