Day-to-Day Responsibilities
• Design and develop instrumentation, optical measurement systems, automated optical inspection (AOI) systems, and laser-based systems for products such as glass, fiber optics, lenses, display technologies, and imaging devices. Develop and integrate new measurement and inspection technologies into manufacturing environments.
• Analyze test results and communicate technical findings, project status, and recommendations to team members, stakeholders, and leadership.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex technical challenges related to metrology, optics, automation, and system integration.
• Transfer newly developed technologies to manufacturing and equipment owners, provide remote or on-site system support, and prepare supporting technical documentation.
• Work with external suppliers and system integrators to design, build, install, and qualify system components or complete solutions.
Education:
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, Optical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Required Skills
• Strong knowledge of optical and non-optical sensing technologies, including cameras, laser sensors, ultrasonic sensors, vibrometers, and interferometers, etc. • Understanding of quality systems, measurement system analysis (MSA), and statistical/data analysis tools such as Minitab or JMP.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment with flexibility, accountability, and strong problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Desired Skills
• Programming experience in C#, Python, or C++.
• Experience with machine vision software/toolsets such as HALCON or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with manufacturing environments and technology transfer from development to production.
