Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

  • Day to Day Responsibilities
    • Researches, develops, designs, and tests mechanical components, tooling, fixtures and automation modules.
    • Performs mechanical designs for equipment/systems (including 3D models, 2D drawings, GD&T, BOM, and installation layouts).
    • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate engineering actions, design tradeoffs and risk mitigations.
    • Develops/provides engineering specifications, acceptance criteria and technical requirements for mechanical equipment procurement, fabrication and installation.
    • Support assigned projects; collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure safe, timely execution (design review, vendor management, FAT/SAT, commissioning).

 

  • Education & Experience
    • Master
    • Major in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering or related fields
    • Proficient in 3D CAD and 2D drafting (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD) and engineering drawing standards (GD&T)
    • Knowledge of mechanical motion principles and mechanism design (servo/linear motion, gears, cams, belt/chain drives, bearings, pneumatics/vacuum); able to collaborate effectively with controls teams.
    • Knowledge in mechanical design verification and debugging (tolerance analysis, FMEA, root cause analysis)
    • Workable written and oral English
    • Open-minded, and with independent thinking; with engineering curiosity and passion
    • Good project management skills
