Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Major Responsibility

•    Closely co-work with product design engineer to create feasible manufacture approaches in development projects, including fixture conceptual and equipment solutions.
•    Conducts periodic meetings with plant personnel to insure project coordination and communication.  
•    Support development of product specifications, component specifications, material specifications, and customer related documentation.  
•    Lead the resolution of difficult process problems and makes changes to existing procedure.  
•    Part of the responsibility is including process cost and yield rate analysis and proposes how to improve.
•    Assists in training of other plant personnel in relation to product assembly and test requirements.  
•    May provide mentoring and guidance to lower level employees.
•    May be responsible for having models or prototypes built and tested.
•    Documents and presents written and oral reports including memos and technical reports.  
•    Coordinates with inside or outside Supplier engineers to specify new injection molds, fixture and materials or modifications to existing stuff.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 7 ~10 years’ product developing & engineering experience.

Required Competency (Skills, Knowledge and Abilities)

  • 5 to 10 years of 3D - CAD design experience (Pro-Engineer is preferred)
  • Good working knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment and assembly methods.  
  • Interface and communicate effectively with engineers and managers inside the company.
  • Be familiar with design for 6 sigma/design for reliability methodology.
  • Be familiar with assembly fixture design and automation
  • Sheet-metal or plastic part design, mold design, injection molding processes, and plastic materials in general a PLUS.
  • Ability to perform with minimal supervision.  
  • Excellent evaluation and prioritizing skills.  
  • Good training and evaluation skills.  
  • Good interpersonal skills and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
