Process Development Engineer

Role Purpose

We are looking for a talented and hands-on Process Development Engineer to join our R&D team. In this role, you will oversee the design, optimization, and implementation of manufacturing processes for CPO product. This role involves working at the intersection of technology, engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance to ensure the highest levels of efficiency, reliability, and product performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in fiber optics, micro-assembly processes, and materials science, as well as experience leading process development in high-tech or optical manufacturing environments.

Education & Experience

• Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Optical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in process engineering or manufacturing are a plus.
• 5+ years of experience in process development or manufacturing, preferably in optics, photonics, or high-tech industries.
• Experience in system integration, test engineering, automation engineering, or a related technical role.
• Hands-on experience integrating multidisciplinary systems involving mechanics, optics, sensors, motion control, and software.
• Experience with development or deployment of measurement systems, automation platforms, or precision equipment.
• Familiarity with troubleshooting complex technical systems in laboratory or manufacturing environments.
• Experience with precision positioning systems, piezo stages, hexapods, or similar micromechanical solutions is an asset.
• Knowledge of vision systems, interferometers, or other optical measurement technologies is an advantage.
• Experience working in cleanroom environments or knowledge of cleanroom ISO standards is a plus.

Skills

• Proven track record of successfully scaling processes from prototype to production.
• Strong knowledge of fiber optic components, including arrays, connectors, and splicing.
• Proficiency in process control techniques, statistical analysis, and software tools (e.g., Minitab, JMP).
• Familiarity with CAD software for fixture design and automation tools for process development.
• Understanding of cleanroom practices and handling of precision optical components.
• Fluent in English for communication, presentation, and documentation
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on engineering mindset.
• Ability to work across disciplines and collaborate effectively with global, cross-functional teams.
• Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to testing, validation, and documentation.
• Good communication skills and the ability to clearly present technical findings.
• Willingness to work in a dynamic R&D environment and support the transition of technologies into production.
