Corning’s Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Customer mechanical reliability complex issue solving
    • Clarify the customer/commercial team’s information, transfer the external request to internal statement. Build the hypothesis tree and align with experts in Corning
    • Take response as a technical lead to manage internal experts, management including the schedule/test item/cost/customer or commercial expectations.
    • Customer visiting to share our findings or suggestions and track customers action plan.
    • Provide glass application suggestions if need.
  • Test method fundamental study
    • Learn the customer mechanical test method/criteria/purpose to have the fundamental study to understand the possible factors to test results, then summarize the findings.
  • Glass mechanical related fundamental study
    • Propose and co-work with US scientist to do more research on glass mechanical property to keep our glass competitiveness
  • Customer/internal mechanical reliability consulting, including strength/test method/modeling …
  • Investigate the brand the mechanical requirement trend in display industry(LCD/OLED)
     

Education& Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in mechanics, chemistry, electronics, glass/material engineering or science. PMP a plus
  • 5+ years of high-tech, glass or display related application experience. Research engineer/ Integration engineer /Application engineer /Project management/Fracture analysis experience a plus
     

Required Skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to stay calm under difficult situations and communicate clearly across organization.
  • Extensive knowledge of display/glass industry
  • Ability to engage and interact effectively with internal groups to assure the right process flow is taking place. And also the ability to work/communicate across varied international cultures.
  • Strong English communication skills
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills for both internal and external customers
  • Solid mechanical modeling or statistic analysis/predication experience as plus, e/g Finite Element Analysis/Minitab/JMP…
