Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Day to Day Responsibility
• Monitor process quality performance to ensure manufacturing processes are operating within defined quality standards and control limits.
• Identify process-related quality issues, conduct root cause analysis, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
• Work closely with Production, Process Engineering, Maintenance, and other related teams to improve process stability and product quality.
• Develop, maintain, and improve process quality control plans, inspection standards, work instructions, and related quality documentation.
• Analyze process capability, defect trends, scrap data, and yield performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Support new process introduction, process validation, trial runs, and process change management to ensure quality readiness.
• Participate in process audits, layered process audits, and compliance checks to ensure adherence to procedures and standards.
• Apply quality tools such as SPC, FMEA, MSA, control charts, 8D, and CAPA to improve process performance and reduce variation.
• Support containment actions and quality response for in-process non-conformances and recurring manufacturing issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to reduce defects, improve first-pass yield, and enhance manufacturing efficiency.
• Ensure quality data is accurately collected, analyzed, and reported to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
• Assist in training operators and relevant personnel on process quality standards and control requirements.
• Other responsibilities assigned by supervisor.
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree or above in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in process quality, manufacturing quality, or quality engineering in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience in process control, in-process quality management, defect analysis, and quality improvement activities.
• Experience in supporting production processes, process validation, and manufacturing issue resolution.
• Familiarity with quality tools and methodologies such as SPC, FMEA, MSA, 8D, CAPA, control plans, and root cause analysis.
• Experience with quality management systems such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or similar standards is preferred.
• Experience in cross-functional collaboration with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality teams.
Required Skills. Competencies, or Certification
Required by Legal or EHS:
• Know quality relevant law and regulations
Competencies (knowledge, skills, and behaviors)
• 5-7 years or more experience in process quality management, with preferred experience in optical communication or electronic manufacturing industries
• Familiar with quality management tools: 8D, 5Why, QC seven major techniques, SPC, FMEA, MSA, CPK, APQP, etc;
• Familiar with quality management systems: ISO9001, TL9000, knowledge of ISO14001, ISO45001 is preferred;
• Understand the basic principles, structures, and manufacturing processes of optical communication products;
• Familiar with reliability testing methods, such as high and low temperature cycling, aging testing, wet heat testing, vibration testing, etc;
• Can understand mechanical drawings, product specifications, and inspection standards;
• Have certain data statistics and analysis skills, proficient in using office software such as Excel, Minitab, PPT, etc;
• Understand common failure analysis methods, have the ability to handle exceptions and write reports.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
• Effective communication and coordination skills for working with cross-functional teams,such as RD,PLM,CSR,Sales,PE,ENG,PD,SCD, etc;
• Good command of written and spoken English.
