Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Key Responsibilities
Regional Quality Leadership & Strategy
• Drive and deploy the APAC Regional Quality Strategy, aligned with OCS Division Quality strategy and objectives.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and development for the APAC Quality organization; build a strong quality culture across sites.
• Act as the single threaded quality leader for APAC, ensuring alignment between regional execution and global strategy.
Quality Execution
• Own and execute PQA (Product Quality Assurance) activities across APAC, including manufacturing and customer facing quality engagements.
• Partner closely with OCS Engineering to ensure early and effective quality engagement in NPI, design changes, and manufacturing transfers.
• Drive alignment between Engineering and Quality to ensure robust control plans, specifications, and readiness for customer and regulatory requirements.
• Partner with Manufacturing and Operations to ensure effective quality controls across internal manufacturing.
Quality Management Systems & Compliance
• Own and maintain the APAC Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with Corning, customer, and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure audit readiness and lead/support customer, internal, and regulatory audits within the region.
• Drive standardization and consistent application of quality processes across APAC sites.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
• Serve as the primary quality interface for APAC customers, proactively addressing quality needs and escalation management.
• Ensure Corning and OCS specifications meet or exceed customer requirements and support customer satisfaction objectives.
• Lead cross functional issue resolution, ensuring timely containment, root cause analysis, and effective corrective actions.
Metrics, Performance & Continuous Improvement
• Own and track APAC Quality metrics, including Cost of Quality (CoQ), internal and external quality performance.
• Identify and prioritize improvement opportunities; lead regional quality improvement initiatives.
• Promote continuous improvement methodologies across quality systems and manufacturing operations.
Experiences/Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in Quality Assurance / Quality Management, including 5+ years of manufacturing or plant level quality leadership.
Experience and Skills
• Demonstrated experience leading teams and influencing cross functional stakeholders in a regional or global environment.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategy
• Certified Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
• Effective Project Management Skills
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities across multiple locations.
• Strong Communication skills, ability to effectively communicate and interact across all levels.
• Strong command of English language (Written, Verbal, Comprehension)
