Job Description:  



  • Execute Corning Life Science's demand planning processes for assigned product lines. Lead forecast reviews with the commercial groups (Marketing, Sales and CLS regional distribution sites around the world). Work directly with commercial and business operation to develop one global consensus forecast from those inputs. Prepare forecast measurement data to improve the accuracy and communication of the forecast. Use of mean absolute percent error (MAPE) and forecast bias to measure and drive forecast improvement. Perform detail level analysis to identify upcoming sales trends. Provide that data to commercial and business managers to support more accurate and timely forecast decisions.
  • The analyst in the region collects data and provides actionable insights, analysis and proposal for decision making to reduce supply chain cost and improve service. This role is critical to execute CLS supply chain transformation strategy, analyze the root causes and drivers to identify inventory optimization opportunities and implement to reduce inventory write-off and SLOB and improve FG inventory turn in the region. This role will require sophisticated analysis and data modelling, optimize and automate reporting tool to improve operation efficiency and supply chain visibility.
  • This role will also focus on consolidating regional supply chain data and reports, be responsible for the accuracy and integrity of all applicable master data and provide training on reporting and tool application. This role will take the lead to report operational KPis for end-to-end supply chain, analyze and identify the gap; lead executing identified solution and optimize business processes.






Day to Day Responsibilities:




Demand Planning

  • Coordinate the monthly forecast process.
  • Develop the best set of statistical models in preparation for monthly reviews with commercial. Provide detail analysis to identify trends and appropriate models to improve the viability of the forecast.
  • Receive inputs from Marketing, Sales, Customer Service and regional sites, and incorporate into the global forecast.
  • Solicit, validate and utilize customer provided forecast data when appropriate.
  • Facilitate and direct the monthly forecast meetings between Marketing, Sales and regional distribution sites.
  • Participate in the creation, maintenance, improvement, and reporting of forecast metrics for Supply Chain activities.
  • Provide forecast training to Product Line Managers and others.
  • Incorporate new lines of business into the standard CLS demand planning processes
  • Perform analysis using Excel, Access and query tools.




Supply Chain Analytics

  • Prioritize and analyze regional supply chain operation including China and AP to identify optimization opportunities, and collaborate with regional operation team for improvement, e.g. inventory optimization.
  • Update master data, KPI and analysis reporting on a regular level, and automate reporting tool with training to improve reporting efficiency and effectiveness
  • Identify potential high business impact issues and clearly communicate issues to management
  • Develop quantitative models and methods to derive actionable insights from data, and use insights to improve outcomes, make decisions and favorably influence strategies beyond standard reporting
  • Implement and document standard procedures and propose and/or implement improvements.
  • Be an active member of cross-functional teams focused on process improvement, cost reduction and supply chain issue resolution
  • Deploy and sustain PEx in line with business strategy and corporate initiatives by assuring the effective use of the different improvement methodologies towards the achievement of end-to-end supply chain, division and corporate strategic goals.




Project Tasks

  • Manage the forecast interface and reporting changes required for commercial organizational and distribution channel changes.
  • Establish improvements and automation to planning tools as appropriate.
  • Improve supply chain performance through measurement and detailed analysis.
  • Assist in Sales & Operations Planning activities.

Education & Experience Required



  • Bachelor degree or above in supply chain, business administration of equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5+ years' experience in a demand planning role in low volume high mix business environment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in Chinese and English.
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Experience with SAP IBP/APO, SAP ERP system, Power BI, Power Query.
  • Strong understanding of planning processes, technologies, training methods, etc.
  • Deep knowledge of the forecasting module in the Advanced Planning tool. Understanding of what algorithms are available and which to choose for particular model.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (customer focused, enabling, engaging).
  • Work experience in an international multi-cultural, matrix environment.
  • Business process knowledge corelating with supply chain and supply chain processes and customer sensation.
