Sr. Mechanical Engineer

Role Purpose

Owns mechanical equipment/system architecture and key technical decisions for manufacturing equipment; leads design, integration and continuous improvement to deliver safe, reliable and economical solutions from concept through commissioning and lifecycle support.

Day to Day Responsibilities

• Researches, develops, designs, and validates complex mechanical modules, tooling, fixtures and automation mechanisms; drives root cause investigations.
• Leads mechanical designs for equipment/systems (3D models, 2D drawings, tolerance stack-up, BOM and installation layouts); conducts/approves design reviews and technical documentation.
• Exercises independent judgment to define design strategies, evaluate tradeoffs, manage technical risks, and ensure compliance with applicable safety and engineering standards.
• Develops/provides engineering specifications, acceptance criteria and technical requirements for mechanical equipment contracting (fabrication, machining, assembly, installation); leads supplier technical alignment.
• Leads and executes assigned mechanical projects; provides technical and project management leadership to ensure safe, timely and economical execution (scope definition, schedule/cost control, vendor management, FAT/SAT, commissioning and handover).
• Leads/conducts cost estimation and capacity/capability enhancement for mechanical projects; ensures complete and accurate deliverables (drawings, calculation notes, manuals, spare parts lists and technical sheets) and drives standardization/knowledge sharing.
• Equipment performance/capability improvement (OEE, precision, reliability, safety) and technical roadmap/standardization
• New equipment/new line introduction: lead mechanical concept/design, supplier development, installation/commissioning, qualification and training
• Cross-functional technical leadership (process, electrical/controls, quality, EHS) on complex problem solving, reliability and continuous improvement programs

Experiences/Education - Required

• Bachelor’s degree or above
• Major in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering or related fields
• At least 5 years of experience in mechanical equipment/system design in manufacturing facilities
• Proficient in 3D CAD and 2D drafting (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD) and engineering drawing standards (GD&T); able to release complete manufacturing/installation packages.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical motion principles and mechanism design (servo/linear motion, gears, cams, belt/chain drives, bearings, pneumatics/vacuum); able to collaborate effectively with controls teams.
• Demonstrated capability in design verification and troubleshooting (tolerance analysis, DFMEA/PFMEA, failure analysis, root cause); familiar with basic simulation (FEA/CFD) is a plus.
• Workable written and oral English
