Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Provide consulting to plants with regards to customs and regulatory requirements (e.g. classification, customs valuation, FTA, AEO certification, export control, etc.)
  • Use SAP GTS (trade compliance system) to manage export control.
  • New Supplier onboard training and refresh training for all Corning Trade compliance requirements
  • Execute internal plant and external vendor audit, including on site interview, report generation, action plan designing and action status follow up to make sure both internal and external trade compliance operation under compliance manner.
  • Internally organize the discussions toward customs audits/ inquiries/ self-discipline and coordinate responses to government authorities
  • Be involved in plant’s projects to provide the support and solutions from trade compliance point of review, including expansion projects and supply chain model design, etc 
  • To maximize saving opportunities by saving initiatives, such as duty exemption, Free Trade Agreement, bonded operation, etc.
  • To fresh the policy update from Chinese authorities regarding trade compliance; ensure the acknowledgement of subsidiaries and drive the daily operation in a compliant & efficient way.
  • Support projects handling. 

Education & Experience  

  • Bachelor’s degree. Major in international business/trade management, logistics, supply chain management, or trade law.
  • Minimum 5 years of experiences on customs compliance (HS classification, customs value, FTA, rule of origin, etc.) and export control (US/EU export control, ECCN/ECN).

Required Skills                                                

  • Candidates with export/import operation experience would be an advantage.
  • Candidates with Trade compliance system handling experience would be an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills in both English and Chinese.
  • Willing to work under pressure. Accept challenge and meet commitment and project deadline.
  • Result-oriented with good interpersonal skills.
  • Process driven and have good business acumen.
  • Business integrity, maturity, acumen, professionalism, and teamwork spirit.
