Role Purpose

The purpose of this position is to support the growth of Corning’s Photonic Materials business (glass polarizers) by aligning customer technical requirements with internal capabilities, while working closely with the Sales Manager and other commercial functions.

This role includes supporting customers by providing technical proposals for new inquiries and resolving technical and quality-related issues in collaboration with internal engineering and quality teams. The Application Engineer also represents the voice of the customer to operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical engineering support to key customers for existing products, including technical support, response to customer quality issues, and management of customer complaints and RMAs.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations and written responses as required.
  • Work closely with the manufacturing team to continuously improve product quality and performance.
  • Identify new growth opportunities for existing and emerging applications.
  • Understand key technology trends, engage with key customers in the region, and build strong relationships with industry experts.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Optics, Materials Science, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in R&D, application engineering, or an engineering role closely supporting customers or new product development in fiber optic products, ideally within the optical communications industry.
  • Knowledge of fiber optic products is preferred.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
