Works with other team members to solve difficult technical, engineering related problems. Supports or leads continuous improvement activities, new product or process introductions and cost reduction projects. Understands Corning's Intellectual property management processes and follows that process in documenting any intellectual property developed as part of a project

  • Provides day-to-day problem solving support to production, development and research operations
  • Trains operators and trades personnel on new equipment and processes
  • Uses rigorous processes and technical knowledge to build detailed technical understanding for key process steps
  • Functions as a team member or team leader on focused projects
  • Trouble shoots material, process and equipment issues, identifies root cause and implements corrective action
  • Implements and documents material, process and/or equipment changes
  • Uses simple statistical tools and Designed Experiments (DOE) in process problem solving and process improvement; Uses more sophisticated statistical tools and DOE techniques in problem solving and process/product improvement
  • Assure quality and repeatability of processes and products
  • Supports new product introductions through equipment installation, process certification, documentation and training
  • Assures safety of operators and equipment and Complies with safety and environmental regulations
  • Develops SME knowledge of material, process and/or equipment in focused areas of manufacturing or engineering
  • Executes cost reduction and improvement (DMAIC) projects in line with business objectives

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent technical experience or equivalent experience (exceptional case)
  • Yellow Belt Training
  • Track record of delivering results
  • Demonstrated knowledge in a technical field
  • Project team membership

  • Summer Intern experience/progressive experience within the field of engineering
  • Green Belt Certification
  • Project Team Leadership
  • Shift supervisory experience

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing and managing the thin film coating operations at our CMs.
  • Identify and develop best-in-class capability at CMs that aligns with the product roadmap.
  • Serve as the technical transfer receiver for coating technology in Ops team.
  • Support the business team in supplier onboarding on technical assessment.
  • Production support, process improvement and equipment troubleshooting for MP yield improvement at CMs.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in coating technology, document the best-in-class experience.
  • Train and mentor CMs team, providing guidance on best practices.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits at CMs.

 

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor and /or above
  • Major in Engineering or Science, preferably chemical, mechanical, or material
  • Experience of thin film coating

 

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated proven experience in thin film coating processes.
  • Strong knowledge of coating materials, techniques, and equipment.
  • Proficient in using measurement and tools to analyze coating performance.
  • Demonstrated logistical thinking and good problem-solving skills.  
  • Familiar with manufacturing environment and process control.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Good written and oral English.

 

Desired Skills:

  • Project management, including new project delivering, improvement projects.
  • Data analysis, using Minitab, Python, or other tools.
