We are offering a unique job opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research in an exciting field of Wireless Communications. This job provides a wide range of opportunities to invent and bring to fruition new life-changing technologies for the 5G Mobile Communication and beyond.

 

The successful candidate will:

  • Work from the Corning Scientific Center in St. Petersburg, Russia and closely interact with other Corning R&D teams around the globe,
  • Provide technical leadership for research projects and activities focusing on Antenna systems and RF propagation to support Corning R&D in optical and wireless communication systems,
  • Guide efforts for building numerical models of antennas and antenna arrays,
  • Develop novel antenna and RF solutions for Corning’s next-generation Wireless Systems,
  • Play a leading role in creation of relevant IP to protect key inventions related to novel networking solutions.  

 
Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Conceive antenna designs and define antenna requirements for various future product concepts,
  • Propose and lead research projects/activities involving design of antenna elements and arrays; perform extensive numerical simulations with industry-standard commercial tools,
  • In collaboration with experimental and testing groups, design and perform system testing and validation experiments,
  • Collaborate on various wireless system projects and execute technology transfer with R&D organizations in Corning, NY and other Corning sites,
  • Prepare technical presentations and reports for Technology and Management teams,
  • 10-15% global travel is expected.

 
Required Education and Experience:

  • Master's Degree, with Ph.D. preferred, in Electrical Engineering, Electronics or related discipline,
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in antenna design and EM modeling and simulation OR
  • Established track record of technical achievements in Antennas and Wireless Communications, as evidenced by publication in high-impact peer-reviewed media and patents.
     

Job Requirements: 

  • Expert use of one or more industry standard modeling tools like HFSS, CST Microwave Studio, FEKO, etc.
  • Strong background in Wireless Communications, with emphasis on Antenna theory and multiple antenna technologies, including millimeter wave systems,
  • Experience in analyzing and simulating RF propagation and wireless communication channel at various frequencies, from sub-GHz to THz,
  • Hands-on lab experience with antenna measurements and system characterization is a strong plus,
  • Good command of general purpose computational tools like Matlab or Python,
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are required to facilitate direct interaction with Corning research teams.
