We are offering a unique job opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research in a field of applied statistics for Specialty Materials Industry. This job provides a wide range of opportunities to invent and bring to fruition statistical methods and tools used corporate wide.


The successful candidate will:

  • Work from the Corning Scientific Center in St. Petersburg, Russia and closely interact with other Corning R&D teams around the globe,
  • Provide technical contribution for development of new statistical methods and tools for material and device component development and characterization,
  • Build and implement statistical models for corporate product performance and reliability tests,
  • Develop and implement statistical tools for the corporate users worldwide,
  • Work with world class experts ranging from computational science and reliability engineering to user interface designers.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement statistical models and tools for Research, Development and Engineering community,
  • In collaboration with experimental and testing groups, design and implement test data analysis methods,
  • Provide technical documentation and tutorials for the tools you create globally across the corporation,
  • Prepare technical presentations and reports for Technology and Management teams.


Required Education and Experience:

  • Masters’s Degree, with PhD preferred, in Mathematics, or Physics with strong background in Statistics,
  • Knowledge of R,
  • Knowledge of one of the statistical software packages: Minitab, JMP, IBM SPSS, Weibull++
  • Intermediate English level
  • Russian language advance level required

Travel Requirement: 10-15% global travel is expected.
