Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose:

The role will focus on providing operational and analytical Compensation & Benefits support to Corning’s C&B COE team in the EMEA region and its HR and business customers. This position is focused on, but not limited to, the EMEA region to ensure that:

  • COE programs/processes/policies support the attraction and retention of the number and type of talent required to execute corporate strategy.
  • COE programs/processes/policies establish and reinforce Corning Values and positive work environment, while complying with all legal, regulatory, and collective bargaining agreement requirements.
  • COE key stakeholders fully understand the value, benefit, and use of COE programs/processes/policies. Ensures standards, policies, union contract application, and guidelines are understood and consistently applied.
  • Financial decisions and recommendations support top quartile cost performance objectives while maintaining appropriate levels of HR service delivery
  • Compensation programs are aligned with Corning’s overall Total Reward philosophy and framework.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Develop excellent working relationships with region-wide business unit and plant HR, Shared Services, and other HR COEs.
  • Responsible for completion of annual salary and benefits survey submission process, and the development and recommendations for EMEA salary ranges. You will also collaborate with and provide guidance to plant HR on hourly wage structures.
  • Assist other Compensation COE team members with annual salary review processes for employees by providing testing, business and plant HR training, and end process data analysis.
  • Provide adhoc compensation analysis work when requested by BUHR or COE.
  • Provide “in-house consultant” services to Plant HR managers, Shared Services, Employee Relations COE, and Talent Acquisition COE around compensation analysis, progressions, and job analysis.
  • Ownership of Recognizing Excellence – Corning’s peer-to-peer recognition program.
  • Obtain functional knowledge related to compensation and benefits in areas of compliance, legal, and audit.
  • Ensure that the governance and administration of various compensation and benefits programs are in compliance with established guidelines, processes, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Implement/deliver new programs or training to our business HR units.
  • Partner with the COE Communications Manager to develop training/communication materials.

Required Education/Experience:

  • For this role we are looking for an HR professional with 2-3 years of compensation and/or benefits experience. We will also consider HR generalists who may have gained this experience by leading projects in compensation and/or benefits.
  • You are fluent in written and spoken English.
  • You have experience in a manufacturing environment or plant.
  • You have worked with and understand the importance of HRIS systems (we work with SuccessFactors) and other compensation applications/vendors.
  • As part of a global team, you are able to demonstrate cultural agility.
  • You are a high-energy and result-focused team player with proven analytical, MS Excel, and communication skills, who is inquisitive, able to learn quickly and keen to throw yourself into new experiences.
