Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

ROLE PURPOSE:

Serve as a global process owner and subject matter expert responsible for the alignment, performance and optimization of OCS processes. Identify and execute process improvement and capability enhancement projects in support of the process roadmap.  Review process changes to ensure global consistency and monitor global performance.  This will be done through development of deep knowledge on why the process works, process capability, performance, and control methodology.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Function as owners and change approvers of globally aligned processes and confirm all relevant process documentation is kept up to date:

a) Participate as stakeholders in new process introduction teams to ensure processes remain aligned

 

• Maintain global process alignment:

a) Periodic site visits within region to perform Gemba walk audits against documentation of processes
b) Review of results from audits, coordinating appropriate action plans
c) Lead global process reviews to ensure alignment between sites

 

• Identify global process trends and variations through systematic process monitoring & data analysis:

a) Define periodic standard reports or control charts to be generated; for example, OEE, TAU, sigma level, Ppk
b) Use standard reports or control charts to assess overall process trends and variations within and between plants to identify opportunities for process improvements and analyze process capability
c) Perform in-depth data-based analysis of process variables to identify performance issues and understand cause and effect relationships

 

• Support projects within the framework of the process roadmap:

a) Define and execute workstreams and ensure their completion

 

• On-site support for manufacturing troubleshooting based on engineering principles and process understanding:

a) Provide support for plant process engineering when existing standard troubleshooting guides and process documentation is not sufficient for problem resolution

 

• Ensure consistent evaluation of processes changes through structured experimental plans, statistical data analysis, qualification and change control:

a) Document process changes through a formal change evaluation and control system

 

• Promote Process Engineering as a rigorous discipline with comprehensive training program

a) Serve as process engineering champions by demonstrating engineering rigor, mentoring junior process engineers and promoting process engineering development

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience in process engineering.
  • Understanding of process ownership principles and structured problem solving methods.
  • Practical experience with data analysis and basic statistical techniques.
  • Familiarity with experimental activities, process testing, validation, or qualification.
  • Experience working in cross functional teams; international collaboration is a plus.
  • Good communication and technical documentation skills.
  • Working English for day to day cooperation with international teams.

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
  • Familiarity with data analysis (e.g. Minitab, JMP, Power BI, or similar)
  • Willingness to contribute to training activities and knowledge sharing
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
