Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

ROLE PURPOSE:

We are looking for a highly skilled and innovative R&D Measurement Systems Development Supervisor (m/f) to join our Metrology Engineering team. In this role, you will lead the development, integration, and industrialization of advanced testing solutions for co-packaged optics connectivity.

The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in sub-micron metrology and test systems, as well as hands-on experience with advanced technologies such as vision-based inspection systems (AOI), interferometers, and precision motion platforms. This position requires end-to-end experience, from early-stage system development and validation through the integration of measurement techniques and transfer into high-throughput manufacturing environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and supervise a team of experts focused on the development of measurement methods for new processes and products in the field of micro-optics
  • Drive the development, integration, and implementation of metrology solutions for advanced R&D and manufacturing applications
  • Collaborate closely with global research and technology organizations, external suppliers and contractors, and cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams to support the successful transfer of metrology capabilities into production
  • Ensure measurement systems and capabilities align with technical roadmaps, business needs, and future technology directions
  • Stay current with the latest developments in metrology technologies, measurement techniques, and industry best practices
  • Research and assess emerging trends in fiber-optic and micro-optic technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and capability development
  • Support innovation activities through patent filings, scientific publications, and technical presentations
  • Contribute to the development of robust, scalable, and high-throughput measurement systems for manufacturing environments

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Optics, Photonics, Physics, Micromechanics, Metrology, Automation, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory role and/or in leading project teams
  • Proven experience in system development, automation, integration, implementation, and scale-up of technical solutions
  • Strong project management skills, including planning timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and execution
  • Experience with sub-micron metrology and advanced measurement systems in R&D or manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with micromechanics, such as piezoelectric stages, hexapods, and precision positioning systems, is an advantage
  • Knowledge of cleanroom ISO standards is considered an asset
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is a plus
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to drive planning and execution effectively
  • High attention to detail and a data-driven approach to problem-solving and decision-making
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in global, cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency in both English and Polish
