Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
ROLE PURPOSE:
The Regional Quality Manager – EMEA is responsible for driving and executing the EMEA Regional Quality Strategy aligned with the OCS and OFC Division Quality Strategy. The role provides primary quality leadership and support to OCS, while also supporting key OFC quality initiatives (limited support). The role ensures that customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements are consistently met across EMEA manufacturing sites.
This position serves as the primary regional quality leader and customer interface support, partnering closely with Quality Excellence Managers, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, and Operations to enable strong execution, robust quality systems, and continuous improvement across the region.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Regional Quality Leadership & Strategy
- Drive and deploy the EMEA Regional Quality Strategy, aligned with OCS Division Quality strategy and objectives.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development for the EMEA Quality organization; build a strong quality culture across sites.
- Act as the single‑threaded quality leader for EMEA, ensuring alignment between regional execution and global strategy.
- Represent OCS and OFC as a member of the EMEA EMM leadership team
Quality Execution
- Own and execute PQA (Product Quality Assurance) activities across EMEA, including manufacturing and customer‑facing quality engagements.
- Partner closely with OCS Engineering to ensure early and effective quality engagement in NPI, design changes, and manufacturing transfers.
- Drive alignment between Engineering and Quality to ensure robust control plans, specifications, and readiness for customer and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with Manufacturing and Operations to ensure effective quality controls across internal manufacturing.
Quality Management Systems & Compliance
- Own and maintain the EMEA Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with Corning, customer, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure audit readiness and lead/support customer, internal, and regulatory audits within the region.
- Drive standardization and consistent application of quality processes across EMEA sites.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as primary support for Quality Excellence Managers interface for EMEA customers, proactively addressing quality needs and escalation management.
- Ensure Corning and OCS specifications meet or exceed customer requirements and support customer satisfaction objectives.
- Lead cross‑functional issue resolution, ensuring timely containment, root cause analysis, and effective corrective actions.
Metrics, Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Own and track EMEA Quality metrics, including Cost of Quality (CoQ), internal and external quality performance.
- Identify and prioritize improvement opportunities; lead regional quality improvement initiatives.
- Promote continuous improvement methodologies across quality systems and manufacturing operations.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENC AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
- 10+ years experience in Quality Assurance / Quality Management, including 5+ years of manufacturing or plant‑level quality leadership
- Demonstrated experience leading teams and influencing cross‑functional stakeholders in a regional or global environment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategy
- Certified Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
- Effective Project Management Skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities across multiple locations.
- Strong Communication skills, ability to effectively communicate and interact across all levels.
- Strong command of English language (Written, Verbal, Comprehension)
PREFERRED:
- Advanced degree or quality certification (e.g., ASQ) preferred
- Familiarity with digital quality tools (PLM, ETQ, Power BI)
- Expertise in QMS frameworks (ISO 9001, TL9000) and structured problem solving
- Background in NPI, digital quality tools, or AI driven quality analytics‑driven quality analytics
- Green Belt / Black Belt trained / certified
- Experience in optical communication to include Data center and Co- Package optics

Travel Requirements:
- 10 - 15% travel, some international
Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
40 hours/week, Monday-Friday / Hybrid
