Scope of Position: In this role, you will work on multiple research project teams with an emphasis on opto-mechanics and electro-mechanical systems. Provide engineering and creative devices for multi-disciplinary projects at CTCSV. Assignments can be broad in nature, requiring appreciable initiative and good problem-solving skills. The Ideal candidate is expected to be experienced in mechanical design, analysis, fabrication and systems level problem solving of devices and assemblies.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Design of components and complex assemblies for mechanical and electro-mechanical research systems.
  • Conduct detailed analysis and simulation of mechanism designs.
  • Define critical technical requirements for design and functional qualifications.
  • Create engineering documentation including part, assembly, test protocols, work instructions and fabrication procedures.
  • Manage and coordinate external suppliers to deliver parts, assemblies and services in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and present technical reviews to cross-functional technical teams in both formal and informal environments.


Education and Experience:

  • BS or MS in mechanical engineering or relevant field.

  • Knowledge of additive and subtractive fabrication processes.

Travel requirements: Occasional domestic
