Role Purpose
The purpose of Thermal Equipment Technical Manager is to develop team capabilities to lead the design, construction, improvement, and upgrade of Corning thermal equipment and associated thermal process services across Asia. The core capabilities involve,
- Thermal equipment application & integration
- Thermal equipment design
- Thermal Process service design
- Field leadership and support
- Energy efficiency
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for strategy planning of thermal equipment engineering, including mechanical design, prototyping, installation, acceptance, and start-up for thermal/fluid equipment across Corning Businesses
- Provide leadership for new process or product development - focus on glass melting and forming.
- Establish requirements with customer(s). Understand voice of customer(s) and nature of the business requirements for each project.
- Establish equipment plans (scope, schedule, cost estimates, acceptance criteria, risk management, and handover criteria).
- Define and develop the design capability of this team to support the success of the businesses.
Travel Requirements: Able to travel extensively including overseas. Assignment could involve long term domestic or international assignments.
Experiences/Education
Education
- Possess BS/MS/PHD degree, and major in mechanical, aerospace engineering or related fields with backgrounds in equipment engineering applied for machine design, equipment/system integration and energy saving.
- Professional Engineering registration is a plus
Required Skill
- 15+ years’ experience in equipment design with solid backgrounds in fluid-dynamics, heat transfers, and thermal dynamics under engineering/industrial levels
- Excellent computer and 2D/3D CAD skills (good command of MS Office, AutoCAD and Solid Works)
- Familiar with thermal equipment design and fabrication such as furnace, kiln oven etc.
