Corning’s Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.

 

 

Purpose of Position

The Technology Cost & Capital analyst is responsible to support analysis and justification of potential and proposed capital projects for the Display Engineering and CDT Engineering organizations. The position also supports the day to day activities of the Capital Portfolio manager and Technology Cost lead. This includes planning of capital technology project pipeline, driving assessment of alternatives, deploying of Capricorn process, and preparing of investment reviews for the Capital Steering Committee. The position will also support data quality audit via capital portfolio interface (PlanView system) and development of the GreenBook and BlackBook capital plans, including reports for Melting Repairs and Finishing retrofits.

 

Major Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain baseline costs for existing technology platforms in melting and finishing
  • Develop investment costs for proposed/new technology platforms
  • Analyze technology tradeoffs to drive optimal manufacturing and operational costs
  • Own monthly data quality audit for capital project portfolio via PlanView
  • Deploy Capricorn process compliance and coordinate Capricorn SME resource within Display
  • Support PlanView data integrity for GreenBook and BlackBook capital portfolio
  • Facilitate meetings and workshops with project managers and cross-functional stakeholders on Capricorn tools/processes

 

Key Decision Areas

  • Schedule planning and SME resource planning for ongoing and upcoming project pipelines per GreenBook/BlackBook portfolio planned

 

People Responsibilities

  • Good communication skills at all levels, this position will interact on a frequent basis with our finance analysts and leaders, division engineers/project managers, and business leadership
  • Interest in facilitating and training users on tools and processes
  • Individual contributor with ability to grow in responsibility

 

Quantitative Information

  • Monthly data quality audit
  • Monthly portfolio/project 1-Pager report out
  • Portfolio Analysis of annual & 5-year capital plans
  • Appropriation Request workflow and process improvement
  • Standard baseline cost analysis

 

Education and Skill:

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering preferred; advanced degree (MBA) is a plus
  • Project management experience and demonstrated skills is required
