Role Purpose
The Plant Nurse is responsible for delivering comprehensive on-site occupational health services to support employee health, safety, and well-being. This role ensures compliance with applicable local regulations and Corning corporate policies, provides timely medical care for work-related injuries and illnesses, and partners with site leadership to implement health promotion, prevention, and employee well-being programs aligned with corporate Health Services strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a member of the site Health Services team and collaborate with plant leadership, EHS, and cross-functional partners to plan, implement, and sustain occupational health programs in alignment with corporate standards and local regulatory requirements, including required core programs.
- Provide on-site first aid, clinical assessment, treatment, and case management for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses; coordinate referrals to external medical providers as needed.
- Manage employee health surveillance programs, including pre-placement, periodic, and fitness-for-duty evaluations; maintain accurate, confidential medical records in compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements.
- Manage occupational injury cases and workers’ compensation processes in collaboration with EHS, Human Resources, and external medical partners; support return-to-work, accommodation, and job modification processes.
- Plan and deliver employee health promotion and education initiatives, including chronic disease prevention, stress management, ergonomics, and workplace safety education.
- Participate in investigations of health-related incidents and exposures, providing medical expertise and supporting root cause analysis and corrective action development.
- Ensure compliance with medical recordkeeping, data privacy, and confidentiality requirements in accordance with company policy and local laws.
- Maintain readiness of first aid rooms, emergency response equipment, and medical supplies; conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
Experiences/Education - Required
Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing or a related field; active Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
Experience: Clinical nursing or occupational health nursing experience required; manufacturing or corporate health services experience preferred.

- Strong clinical judgment, first aid, and emergency response capabilities.
- Knowledge of occupational health regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to partner across functions and levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with data and analytics tools (e.g., Power BI) preferred.
- Professional certifications in occupational health or safety are a plus.
