Corning’s Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.

 

 

Scope of Position: 

  • The Contract Manager will be responsible for coordinating, writing, and executing contracts and agreements in alignment with the GSM Global Contract Center of Excellence strategy. 
  • The Contract manager must bring a strong business and operations acumen and execute with an appreciative balance between business competitiveness, legal compliance, and risk management needs. 

 

Day to Day Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with the Law Department to maintain and manage the standard contract templates for global usage. 
  • Using standard templates, drafts and reviews master agreements and amendments. 
  • Issues the standard template and amendments to suppliers for review; tracks correspondence with suppliers and follows up as necessary. 
  • In a coordinated fashion, communicate with members of the Law Department regarding legal terms requiring negotiation. 
  • Routes agreements and amendments for internal approval. 
  • Address inquiries and resolve issues and serve as contract subject matter expert for categories and GSM business service managers. 
  • Creates, maintains, and updates various reports within the department to communicate with related approval functions (legal, finance, GSM) contract management expectations. 
  • Most activities will be centralized within the Contract Lifecycle Management tool to apply defined contract standards and assure compliance for the region and category. 
  • Within all activities, strive to develop, implement, and own a consistent contracting approach and process, and to proactively strengthen and support the development of contract knowledge within the business.

 

Required Experience: 

  • Three years of professional-level experience drafting a variety of contracts and agreements. Additional directly related experience and/or education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
  • Business degree level understanding of contract law and compliance 
  • Problem Solving, Decision Making and Project Management skills 
  • Communication (oral & written, internal & external) skills 
  • Strong interpersonal and Relationship skills. Can work well in a team environment. Ability to work effectively with different personalities 
  • Customer Focused: Understanding Customer Requirements and Objectives and able to work with a variety of business and technical/engineering team members for positive resolutions. 
  • Comfortable with enterprise-wide systems and able to independently create, analyze and execute business requirements based on system wide reporting. 
  • Demonstrated Leadership Skills: Ability to lead colleagues in systemized management of contract executions, renewals, and amendments. Ability to look at the data and situation and make an informed decision using best judgment.


Desired Skills: 

  • Experience in contract management and negotiations 
  • Ability to analyze complex contracts and the resulting business risks. 
  • Ideally experienced in facilitating change and driving process improvements. 
  • Fluent in English. 
  • Working knowledge in secondary language is desirable. 
  • Experience in working in cross-functional, multi-national Company and virtual teams would be a bonus.
  • Ability to multi-task

 

Required Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in business, finance accounting, legal studies or a directly related field.
