Corning’s Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.

 

 

Purpose of the Position

  • To demonstrate Corning Display commitment & technical leadership to strategic customers by establishing technical laboratory for on-site technical problem solving, new product demos, in-depth technical interaction for Display in Asia.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead scoping to build Display technical laboratory with target opening in 2021.
  • With business stakeholders, identify and document requirements/expectations for Display technical laboratory based in Taiwan.
  • Received guidance from Display US technical laboratory on technical service capabilities and delivery required.
  • Prepare project planning documents (performance, schedule and cost).
  • Prepare and submit capital project for approval. The request should include business justification, expected lab schedule and requested amount of funding required.
  • Once approved, lead the technical laboratory building; working closely with Corning Display organization.
  • Per business guidance, hire technical laboratory team. Plan to be in US for short term training. 
  • When Display technical laboratory is operational, transition to manage three critical roles: Be "Thought Leadership" (subject matter expertise) to provide fast and thorough initial "triage" / diagnosis of Display technical customer issues.
  • Display optical characterization to support key experiments for complex customer issues including mura/leakage, display defect characterization, display teardowns and others.
  • Display demonstration for customer visits to technical laboratory.

 

 Education/Knowledge Requirement 

  • MS in science and engineering discipline; preference for PhD in the area of chemical, optics, material science or mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of track record in combination of technology and commercial roles; management of technical laboratory is a plus.
  • Strong preference for individuals that have been Technical Manager, Product Engineer or Application Engineer with display industry and customer facing experience
