Scope of Position:

As part of the warehouse leadership team, this role helps planning, prioritizing, and communicating shift directives to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and quality are met for all outbound related activities. Provide direction and leadership to the Distribution Center supervisors - Outbound, LTL & Parcel. Support project and continuous improvement activities, new processes, equipment/product introductions, validation and cost reduction projects related to outbound efficiency and compliance.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and supervise all outbound waving activities, which drive all outbound activity in the warehouse
  • Oversee and supervise the replenishment of inventory to enable outbound order picking.
  • Oversee and supervise the outbound warehouse team members and ensure all Transfer orders and Sales orders are picked, staged and loaded, in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Provide daily direction to operations employees and shift supervisors using established guidelines, procedures, and policies.
  • Responsible for the recruiting, hiring, training and development of all outbound warehouse personnel
  • Manage outbound of products and supplies.
  • Define and lead implementation of improvements within operations, including lean, operational excellence, increased technical skills, safety projects and performance gains.
  • Schedule resources and prioritizes activities on the DC floor to assure schedule compliance to include shipping schedule attainment, LTL and parcel efficiencies, training and maintenance activities.
  • Communicate with supervisors and team through regular formal and informal meetings.
  • Communicate and report performance metrics crews, staff and functional leaders. Ensure that all site metric requirements are met on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Perform performance reviews and talent development plans for salaried/indirect labor and hourly/direct labor employees. (as required)
  • Develop, implement and monitor training, qualification, certification and development programs for new and experienced crew members and shift supervisors.
  • Build effective relationships with all distribution center support groups. Ensure team executes documented operating procedures and follows established document control protocols.
  • Hold associates accountable for adherence to established procedures and metrics for process control; ensures awareness and compliance to changes.
  • Receive and integrate new technologies to improve process capability while ensuring proper processes are followed. Enforce process discipline and rigorous change control.
  • Actively engage in safety initiatives and projects.
  • Ensure the protection of Corning’s Intellectual Property (IP).

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • Standard business hours; Monday – Friday.

 

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Prefer degree discipline in Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics or related degree program.

 

Required Years and Area of Experience:

  • Minimum of  5+ years of Warehouse Operations/Logistics experience.
  • Minimum of 1+ year prior supervisory or leadership experience.

 

Required Skills:

  • Successful experience working in a large scale, high volume Distribution Center.
  • Demonstrated track record of success in a series of increasing responsible positions.
  • Proven leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated track record of developing talent.
  • Experience in leading teams in meeting continuous improvement goals, step change, performance improvements, or other change efforts.
  • Experience with Operations Strategy Formation and Execution.
  • WMS experience. Preferred experience in Manhattan Scale software.

 

Desired Experience / Qualifications / Skills:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, MBA or related program.
  • ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification.
  • Experience in technical collaboration with staff engineering groups, managing capital projects, and the innovation process.
