Scope of Position:

In this role, you will be reporting directly to the Quality Manager, and will be coordinating the warehouse team support for inbound and outbound teams as well as inventory control. Responsibilities include providing quality guidance, product resolution decisions, and statistical problem-solving techniques to operations and project teams for continuous process improvements. We look for you to work closely with other functions within the organization (Operations, Quality, Engineering, Customer Service and Supply Chain) and you will be responsible for the quality of the product and process of the Tarboro distribution center.

 

This position directly supervises Quality Inspectors and Quality Documentation Clerks.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate support including customer complaints, help desk responses, statistical analysis, validation support, inspection plans, quality metrics and reporting functions.
  • Support an ISO 9001-compliant Quality management system, driving compliance to Quality Management System processes and continual improvement actions.
  • Drive compliance to WMS process and floor 5S.
  • Identify and resolve issues on warehouse floor including but not limited to incorrect product locations and movement, incorrect labeling or pallets, and compliance to quality requirements.
  • Develop proficiency in Warehouse Management System (WMS) software and related software systems in order to perform, supervise, troubleshoot, train and improve Quality and Operational tasks.
  • Support the investigation of Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA), quality notifications on production batches and investigation of customer complaints, providing solutions where possible.
  • Support Continuous Improvement activities in cooperation with the Performance Excellence department (PEx).
  • Develop/Revise Quality Plans including inbound, outbound, FTL, LTL, and parcel areas and provide training to those affected by the plans.
  • Implement proven inspection and metrology improvements and associated training.
  • Create / Revise technical process documents that fit the business needs and maintain compliance to the regulatory requirements of the applicable quality standards.
  • Serve as a resource for performing internal audits to ensure quality system compliance.
  • Define process controls throughout the WMS process.
  • Makes decisions on day-to-day quality issues and communicates related instructions to those necessary.
  • Understands and carries out and helps improve the quarantine procedure for nonconforming products.
  • Assists in investigating customer concerns as needed.
  • Participates in other related functions to ensure product quality.

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Negligible.

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • 40+ hours/week.
  • 12-hour shifts with rotating days off.
  • Some overtime and weekends to support production activities as necessary.

 

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

 

Required Years and Area of Experience:

  • Minimum 2+ years of supervisory/leadership experience including quality assurance or quality control experience within a manufacturing or distribution environment.

 

Required Skills:

  • Experience with product inspection.
  • Capable of the integration and application of user aimed operations process documentation while meeting business and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office products. Working knowledge of spreadsheet applications and word processing to perform necessary tasks for preparing required data analysis, reports, documents and general communication.
  • Must possess the ability to effectively manage conflict.

  • Able to make decisions regarding product disposition and corrective and preventive action effectiveness.
  • Comfortable in giving direction to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Must be an effective communicator (written and verbal), highly organized, motivated, detail oriented with excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to assume ownership on projects and coordinate the efforts of others to complete project goals or be on a team to support other project Leads.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Must be capable of prioritizing time to handle multiple assignments and to interact with product teams.
  • Able to influence individuals without authority and to motivate others within a project team.
  • Flexibility to lead project teams or be a team member.
  • Strong technical aptitude.
  • Self-starter.

 

Desired Experience / Qualifications / Skills:

  • Knowledge of operation processes and relevant statistical methods for quality assurance preferred.
  • Green Belt certified.
  • Experience in a formal quality management system (e.g., ISO 9001) strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of Continuous Improvement Methodologies including lean, six sigma, statistical applications and validation preferred.
  • Demonstrated technical writing skills.
  • Strong mathematical skills.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Performs job duties in a normal office environment and the warehouse floor.
  • Adheres to site safety policies, Quality/Business system policies and procedures as applicable.
  • Responsible for supervision of associates.
  • Able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds repetitively.
