Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Tech Support Specialist – Pioneer Roles


Job Description:

Technical Field Support personnel provide  product training, new product introduction, in the field product support and assist in the gathering competitive information and customer feedback while promoting Corning Optical Communications Quality policies and best practices    to customers of Corning Optical Communications in their specific territories.

 

Major Responsibilities and On-Going Tasks:

  • Provide product and handling training and field support of Corning Optical Communications products portfolio.
  • Provide support during standardization processes.
  • Actively pursue customer feedback, competitive information and report back to Corning customer teams.
  • Document product usage and trends in customer locations.
  • Support field trials during product evaluations.
  • Support with product presentations and trade shows as required.
  • Adhere to budgetary constraints and document all expenses.
  • Exemplify the Quality Policies of Corning Optical Communications to all internal and external customers.
  • Extensive travel.

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Possess a driver’s license and be insurable.
  • Computer literate.
  • Work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Able and willing to travel 50% of the time.
  • Interface and communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company.
  • Prioritize multiple tasks and manage to completion.
  • Take ownership of tasks and projects and manage to completion on time, every time – both short- and long-term projects.
  • Work effectively as a team member, leader and facilitator.
  • Knowledge of Corning Optical Communications products a plus.

 

Education:

  • Requires Technical degree or equivalent work experience.

 

Experience Requirements: 

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the telephony industry or an equivalent technical training/support field.

 

Additional Skills:

  • Traveling experience is a plus.
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
