Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Purpose of Position:

Work to maximize the sale of Corning Optical Communications (COC) products within Northern Virginia, Maryland and DC Metro Area to grow the business and ensure success of the company. Develop and execute a territory sales plan focused on delivering network solutions that leverage Corning’s comprehensive capabilities.

 

Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years of proven success in Business Development, Inside or Outside Sales 
• Ability to work effectively on a sales team with shared sales budget with minimum supervision from a home-based office

• Skilled at cold calling and business development 
• Internally motivated, organized, results driven, and highly competitive

 

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (preferred) from 4-year accredited University or College

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with a team to meet a shared sales budget and meet Corning’s strategic growth objectives in the DC/MD/Northern Virginia market 

• Balance time spent with end users, contractors, consultants, and distribution partners to close a variety of deals that vary from transactional to larger fiber deployments 
• Drive new business development in target end-user accounts and execute regional customer education and thought-leadership events

• Apply strategic thinking and proactively monitor market and vertical trends to develop and execute an annual sales plan to grow Corning’s share in the territory 

• Timely documentation of sales activities, new pipeline, and accurately forecast project pipeline in CRM 

 

Travel Requirements:

• 50% of travel

 

 


The range for this position is $71,667.00 - $98,543.00.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
