Scope of Position:

To provide bioprocess expertise to various type of bioreactor product development. Apply technical knowledge, engineering fundamentals and practices to effectively accomplish technical assignments and projects.  Support and lead projects to fulfill department goals and objectives in direct support of bioreactor product development.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with engineering and key development partners in selection of components and single use consumables for fixed bed and rocking bioreactor development.
  • Review technical literature.
  • Develop test plans to qualify sub-systems and single use consumables.
  • Interface with bioprocess engineers to optimize processes for variety of applications.

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flextime: 40 hr/week, typical 8 am-5 pm with some potential flex time for experiments or other business needs.

 

Required Education: Pursuing (in Senior year) BS/MS/PhD Engineering: Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, Chemical

 

Required Years and Area of Experience: Senior/Graduate or any prior work experience in medical device or biopharma.

 

Required Skills:

  • Strong technical fundamentals.
  • Strong troubleshooting techniques with creative and innovative problem solving skills.
  • Self motivated and self starter: results oriented and can work independently with high commitment /energy.
  • Ability to work in a team based environment as well as individually.
  • Strong technical curiosity and drive to learn.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload with good planning and organizational skills.

 

Desired Skills:

  • Basic understanding of bioprocess concepts.
  • CAD and design work experience.
  • Hands-on experience with plastics or disposables.
  • Working knowledge of creating and analyzing DOE experiments.
  • Advanced computer skills in Excel, Access, and Statistical Analysis Tools (Minitab or JMP).
  • Working knowledge of FEA.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
