As a leading developer, manufacturer, and global supplier of scientific laboratory products for 100 years, Corning’s Life Sciences segment collaborates with researchers seeking new approaches to increase efficiencies, reduce costs and compress timelines in the drug discovery process. Using unique expertise in the fields of materials science, surface science, optics, biochemistry and biology, the segment provides innovative solutions that improve productivity and enable breakthrough discoveries.

Scope of Position

As part of Corning Life Sciences’ Strategy and Market Intelligence group, this role focuses on customer and competitor intelligence for the Life Sciences business. Collaborating with global stakeholders, the position delivers insights to inform strategic decisions and initiatives. Additional responsibilities may include market intelligence, strategic planning, and external development projects.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an updated perspective of CLS’s competitive position across products, geographies, and markets, considering sales, product portfolio, strategic direction, and operational capabilities. 
  • Analyze key competitors’ business performance, including financials, strategic actions, and potential new entrants to develop actionable insights. 
  • Create forward-looking models to predict competitive positioning for business planning. 
  • Develop competitive scenarios using game theory for critical business decisions. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams to conduct competitive product assessments. 
  • Identify business opportunities based on competitive insights. 
  • Provide periodic updates on competitive perspectives to support business planning.
  • Prepare dashboards, presentations, and models to effectively communicate findings and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders. 
  • Conduct primary and secondary research on existing or new business initiatives. 
  • Participate in the completion of specific projects and programs.
  • Lead and develop direct reports and establish culture of high performance.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, biological sciences, Engineering, or a related field.  MBA preferred.
  • Proven experience in market research, strategic planning, or program/project management. 
  • Strong analytical abilities and experience in quantitative and qualitative business analysis. 
  • Familiarity with Life Sciences, medical devices, or diagnostics industries preferred. 
  • Advanced communication, analytical, and technical skills. 
  • Ability to apply technical and market expertise to achieve business results.

The range for this position is $177,786.00 - $244,457.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
