Role Purpose

This role is part of the Divisional Commercial Finance team within Corning Life Sciences.  This individual will partner with Finance and business functional leaders (Commercial, Business Operations, Channel Management, Customer Service, etc.) to act as a strategic advisor and business partner to the Sales and Product Management teams.  He/she will ensure compliance with local regulations, Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, Corning policies and procedures and US GAAP. This role has a great amount of visibility and career potential!

Key Responsibilities

  • Key business partner to the functional leadership staff. Creates financial models and dashboards to help our business partners understand and grow our business.
  • Act as division lead for revenue recognition guidance
  • Support division competitive intelligence analysis
  • Interface with division leadership and corporate functions on ad-hoc projects
  • Learn the business, markets, and drivers for financial success in order to develop a progressive path for growth
  • Work with commercial leadership, division forecasting, and finance team to develop monthly, annual, and 5-year revenue plans
  • Collaborate with division forecasting, pricing, and account teams to improve regional, market, and product analytics
  • Design and drive continuous improvement in commercial finance processes, procedures, and metrics
  • Access databases of financial and revenue data. Create/maintain reports relevant to the commercial operations teams
  • Supports the preparation of monthly review packages with value-added analytics that highlight key trends, variances, forecasts, and anticipatory analysis for operating expenses.
  • Performs the closing process to ensure timeliness, accuracy, and consistency of reporting with US GAAP, statutory, and tax accounting requirements. Implements and ensures business adherence to internal financial controls.

 

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business-related field
  • 6+ years of relevant experience
  • Previous Life Sciences experience is a plus
  • Ability to develop influential relationships with business leaders (business partnership)
  • Knowledge of financial and management accounting, including systems, compliance and reporting requirements (US GAAP, SOX)
  • Ability to challenge decisions and provide alternative recommendations
  • Ability to be creative in providing financial solutions to the business leaders
  • Proven ability to manage process change, identifying and removing barriers
  • Good listener with strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to act under pressure in fast-paced environment

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Prior experience in multinational manufacturing organization
  • Experience with business intelligence tools (PowerBI, Tableau)
  • Financial Management reporting tools (Khalix, HFM/Essbase) and ERP Experience (Peoplesoft Supply Chain/SAP)                  
  • Understanding of life sciences markets, regions, products, personnel, and strategy

 

Reporting Structure:

  • This role reports directly to the Finance Business Controller, Commercial

 

Travel Requirements: <15% travel required

The range for this position is $132,649.00 - $182,393.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
