Role Overview:

  • This role is part of the Division Finance team within Corning Life Sciences.  This individual will partner with Finance and Operational Leadership to monitor spending, evaluate reporting accuracy, and deliver appropriate decision-making support.  Additionally, this individual will ensure compliance with local regulations, Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, Corning policies and procedures and US GAAP.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate month end closing activities for the CLS business units, ensuring timely and accurate completion of the CLS Division close
  • Execute month end closing activities for specific CLS cost centers/departments, including recording accruals and other judgmental accounts as well as account reconciliations
  • Ensure completeness, accuracy of all CLS product code/legal entity activity each month, including Revenue, FX, Specials
  • Supports the preparation of monthly review packages with value-added analytics that highlight key trends, variances, forecasts, and anticipatory analysis for the division
  • Performs the closing process to ensure timeliness, accuracy, and consistency of reporting with US GAAP, statutory, and tax accounting requirements. Implements and ensures business adherence to internal financial controls.
  • Delivers actionable reporting on monthly results in comparison to forecast and plan and provides insights and perspectives on appropriate actions required to address variances.
  • Support coordination of the annual Budget (Black Book) and five-year plan (Green Book) processes for the Life Sciences division.
  • Partner with business partners/other functional groups to help them understand financial results, performance metrics and improve decision making capabilities through data
  • Provide support as needed to audit engagements staffed with the outsourced internal audit team to ensure locations have an appropriate understanding of expectations
  • Executes routine, ad hoc analysis and reporting to support business unit objectives and business partner relationships
  • Serves on various Division and corporate project teams on ad-hoc basis

 

Reporting Structure:

  • This role reports directly to the Division Commercial Controller

 

Travel Requirements: <10% travel required


Education & Experience Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business-related field
  • 0-3 years relevant experience is a plus
  • Previous Life Sciences experience is a plus

Desired Skills 

  • Prior experience in multinational manufacturing organization
  • Knowledge of financial and management accounting, including systems, compliance and reporting requirements (US GAAP, SOX)
  • Experience with business intelligence tools (PowerBI, Tableau)
  • Peoplesoft Supply Chain/SAP ERP Experience                                         
  • Understanding of life sciences markets, regions, products, personnel, and strategy
