Scope of Position:

Corning Life Science Supply Chain Planning department is looking for a curious problem solver with strong data and systems acumen. The role will be engaged in small-scale and large-scale projects associated with optimizing the supply chain in areas such as (but not limited to) demand forecasting, supply and capacity planning, inventory optimization, network optimization, service performance KPIs, etc. As a Division planning systems subject matter expert, the role will require a unique combination of technical skills and supply chain knowledge.  This role will have a high impact within the CLS Division through tackling of complex problems in support of the Global Supply Chain strategy.  

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  •  Develop subject matter expertise in planning software (SAP IBP), including ownership of IT engagements for systems maintenance and problem resolution.
  • Stay informed on SAP IBP releases and lead enhancements to leverage new capabilities where of benefit to the CLS planning process.
  • Communication and training for functional and super users of the planning systems.
  • Understanding of data integrations and critical incoming and outgoing touchpoints to the planning system.
  • Act as Supply Chain liaison with the Division Analytics organization; aligning the right data for the right intention.
  • Work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams. Interpret data and create meaningful visualizations to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, cross-functional teams, and executive leadership.
  • Analyze data from varied planning and ERP systems to solve complex business problems.
  • Ability to extract the problem statement in order to provide optimal data and/or solution design.
  • Serve as supply chain insight provider through formal projects as well as adhoc requests.
  • Strong practical knowledge of analytical techniques and methodologies such as segmentation, time series modeling, machine learning, data mining and optimization techniques.
  • Learn & stay current on analytics developments in Supply Chain Optimization and Demand Forecasting.
  • Collaboration with supply and demand planning teammates, learning from and sharing information/insights.
  • Building of tools or reporting mechanisms with emphasis on exception management to improve effectiveness of the planning and execution management processes.

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Less than 25% domestic.

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • Monday – Friday, standard business hours.
  • Some flexibility may be needed for training.

 

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Prefer degree programs in Supply Chain Management or IT related fields.

 

Required Years and Area of Experience:

  •   Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in supply chain processes and optimization.

 

Required Skills:

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with experience in analytic languages and frameworks such as SQL, Python preferred.
  • Background in supply chain domain and “state-of-the-art” methods.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Experience in data visualization, machine learning, or optimization

 

Desired Experience / Qualifications / Skills:

  • Supply Chain certification nice to have.
  • SAP IBP experience is a strong plus.
  • Demonstrated results in Supply Chain Projects (demand planning & forecasting inventory, optimization, network design, segmentation and S&OP) in sophisticated and complex environments including the use of simulation and modeling tools (SAP IBP, LlamaSoft or similar)
